Deist Cavern Walkthrough
Deist Cavern B1
Make your way to the southeast corner and down the stairs.
Deist Cavern B2
Head north and around the bend. Follow the path west until you hit the wall, then go north and around the corner, then south to the next floor.
Deist Cavern B3
Follow the path straight north (avoid the bridge) and follow the path around the entire room to the next area.
Deist Cavern B4
There's only one exit to this area. Head north and around the pillar in the area and then go south into the next area.
Deist Cavern B5
Head east until you see four doors. Take the second door from the right and you'll enter a new area.
Boss Fight: Chimera (#035)
If you haven't beaten the Chimera before, it will still be here. Heal up and save because when you talk to the monster to the west, you'll fight the Chimera.
Stats / Weaknesses:
- Rank: 5
- HP: 700
- MP: 80
- ATK: 60
- ACC: 4-75%
- DEF: 50
- Evasion: 1-50%
- Magic Defense: 3-50%
- Gil: 450-900
- Weakness: None
- Resistance: None
- Absorbs: None
- Treasures: None
Strategy:
Depending on how the game mechanics play out, you could face just one Chimera, or up to four of them. The Chimera will hit hard, but it also has a Blaze 7 attack which can hit all party members for some pretty nasty damage. You can cast Blink, Protect and Shell to alleviate the damage that will be done. The Wing Sword from Castle Deist will do much more damage than any of your Mythril weaponry will do. Also it's worthy to note that the Chimera is vulnerable to the Teleport spell, so if you have either Teleport or Warp, you can use it to end the battle quicker.
Life Spring and Mission Completion
After you win, the only thing left to do is approach the Life Spring and drop the Wyvern's Egg inside it. Once you have done so, the only thing left to do is exit via the Warp or Teleport spell.
I hardly think you need any help getting from the Deist Cavern back to Castle Deist. It's just a little ways south from the Cavern.
There's nothing else to do except inform the mother and child that you have completed your mission. You'll also learn that the wyvern has passed away. Sad as it may seem, it cost one life to save another. There's nothing to do except return to Altair.
