Complete Gears Tactics Part 16 walkthrough for Powder Keg and Burnt Rubber, including finding Cog Tag CT18 and strategies for Insane difficulty.
Walkthrough
- 1Take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) (a defensive position) on either side of the door at the end of the hall.
- 2Eliminate the five Wretches that emerge with a shotgun.
- 3Proceed through the door they exited.
- 4Head across the room; an ammo box is on your right if needed.
- 5Exit outside.
- 6Immediately turn around the wall to your right to find Cog Tag CT18.
- 7To progress, shoot the propane tank in the car, causing it to roll down the hill. Run alongside it to complete the chapter.
- 8Alternatively, stand in front of the car after shooting the propane tank but before it rolls for a faster descent.
Tips
- For a hidden propane tank easter egg, stand at the doorway to the area and throw a grenade in the general direction of the car. If you hear it ignite, quickly Roadie Run (a sprinting maneuver) towards it. On Insane difficulty, you have very little time before Kryll attack.
- If you want to reach the hidden propane tank area, you can set the car on fire, run to it, turn around, and then use your pistol to shoot the propane tank in the car.
- The main combat encounter involves a few Wretches, not the luminous variants. Avoid the first room where a Stranded character plays a prank to prevent likely death.
Section: Powder Keg (A27)
Walkthrough
- 1Go to the gas station and wait for the attendant to mention the Junker isn't full.
- 2Proceed to the Point of Interest (an objective marker) and spin the wheel until the attendant confirms the Junker is full and there's ammo in the back.
- 3If desired, pick up the Longshot, grenades, and large ammo boxes.
- 4When you hear a Locust shout, prepare for combat.
- 5Strategy 1 (Shotgun/Longshot): Take cover in the doorway of the gas shack. Use the Longshot to snipe enemies, switching to the shotgun for those that get too close. A Boomer and several Wretches will appear to your right; use the shotgun on the Wretches and then the Boomer. Use the small wall for cover against remaining enemies, sniping them with the Longshot or using the shotgun if they approach. The attendant may assist with a magnum.
- 6Strategy 2 (Shotgun/Lancer): Take cover behind a small wall in front of the longer wall where Locusts hide. Use the Lancer to pick off Locusts, using the shotgun for any that get close. A Boomer and several Wretches appear to your right; use the shotgun on the Wretches and be aware of the Boomer's Boomshot attacks. Use the Lancer for remaining enemies, or the shotgun on Casual difficulty.
- 7After defeating all enemies, quickly run inside to collect any desired ammo before the cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an in-game cinematic) triggers your departure.
Tips
- On Insane difficulty, it is highly recommended to use the Longshot strategy for Powder Keg.
- The attendant NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) can be helpful.
- The first wave of enemies is often the most challenging part.
