Masteries

Unlock and upgrade your characters in Granblue Fantasy: Relink with our comprehensive guide to Masteries, including Offense, Defense, Collection, and Over Mastery.

Each playable character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink has their own Masteries trees, accessible from the Masteries tab in the Main Menu. You can spend Mastery Points (MSP) to unlock nodes on these trees, which grant Stat Boosts, Action Skills, and Passive Abilities.

Types of Masteries

There are three types of Masteries:

• Offense: Boosts attack and stun power, grants damage skills, raises skill and SBA damage, etc.
• Defense: Boosts health and healing, grants support skills, raises resistances, etc.
• Collection: Provides various enhancements depending on weapon type.

Unlocking Nodes

Masteries trees develop progressively as characters advance through the game. You unlock nodes by spending Mastery Points (MSP), which are accumulated by clearing quests, reporting completed side quests, opening treasure chests, and defeating foes. Each node can be activated manually, and you can follow multiple branches simultaneously, provided you unlock preceding nodes. Select a node and press the designated button to unlock it. If you have sufficient MSP, you can unlock multiple nodes in a path at once by selecting a node and pressing the Auto Unlock button, which will unlock the selected node and any preceding locked nodes on that path.

Accumulated Mastery Points (MSP) are shared across all characters. Your current MSP total is displayed in the upper right corner of the Main Menu screen.

The first time you unlock an action node on a character's Masteries tree, you will earn the Trophy/Achievement, "On the Road to Mastery."

Tree Expansion

After completing Chapter 5, character Masteries trees expand to include more nodes.

Over Mastery

Over Mastery is a feature unlocked after finishing the main story, designed to further improve combat performance. By spending a fixed amount of MSP, you can purchase four random bonus traits from a list including Attack Power Up, Health Up, Critical Hit Rate Up, Stun Power Up, Skill Damage Up, Skybound Art Damage Up, Chain Burst Damage Up, Normal Attack Damage Cap Up, Skill Damage Cap Up, Skybound Art Damage Cap Up, and Healing Cap Up. These bonuses range from +200 to +1000 ATK, +400 to +2000 HP, and +2% to +20% for other stats.

Over Mastery Level 1 becomes available at character level 80, costing 700 MSP for a set of four random bonuses. Available Over Masteries upgrade at levels 90 and 100. Level 2 costs 1000 MSP and Level 3 costs 2000 MSP. Using Over Mastery Level 2 or 3 and accepting the results will overwrite any existing Over Mastery bonuses from Level 1.

The chance of obtaining specific bonuses varies by Over Mastery level:

• Level 1 (700 MSP): Higher likelihood of stat bonuses.
• Level 2 (1000 MSP): Variety of bonuses.
• Level 3 (2000 MSP): Greater chance of higher percentage bonuses.

RNG

The specific bonuses granted by Over Mastery are determined by Random Number Generation (RNG). If you are unsatisfied with a set of bonuses, you can reroll, which requires spending the required MSP again. To reset the RNG, you must restart the game and complete a quest before using Over Mastery.

Over Mastery Recommendations

Over Mastery bonuses have the most impact on high-level endgame activities. Recommended bonus categories include Critical Hit Rate Up, Stun Power Up, Normal Attack Damage Cap Up, and Skill Damage Cap Up.

Farming MSP

Several late-game Folca Side Quests reward 700 MSP each and are repeatable. Two notable quests are:

• Futureproof Trading: Completable with Fire Shards and Earth Shards. Repeat Extreme Quests, General Investigation: Gallanza, and Saga Illustrated: The Inferno for shards if needed.
• Presentproof Investing: Completable with Wind Shards and Water Shards. Repeat Extreme Difficulty Quests, License to Thrill, and Saga Illustrated: The Beginning for shards if needed.

To repeat these Side Quests without reloading the game, access Lyria's Journal from the Main Menu, then back out; the client will offer the quest again. Repeatedly completing these Side Quests is an effective way to earn enough MSP to fully develop your characters.
