Scanning for Ore

Pinpoint valuable Ore deposits in Kerbal Space Program using M44 Resource Scanners and Surface Harvesters for efficient ISRU mining operations.

Before you can mine, you need to find Ore. This is done using orbital resource scanners (M44 Resource Scanner) and surface scanners (Surface Harvester). Launch a satellite with an M44 into a polar orbit around your target body. This will map the Ore concentration across the entire surface. Higher concentrations mean more efficient mining.

Once you've identified a promising area, send a lander with a Surface Harvester to pinpoint the exact location and confirm the Ore richness. The richer the deposit, the faster your ISRU converter will produce fuel.
