Optional Bosses
Master the optional bosses Phantom, Kurt Zisa, and The Unknown in Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. Learn strategies, weaknesses, and rewards to overcome these challenging fights.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX features several challenging optional bosses that offer unique rewards and test your combat skills. This guide covers Phantom, Kurt Zisa, and The Unknown, providing strategies to defeat them.
Phantom
The first optional boss is Phantom, located in Neverland. Land at the Ship: Cabin, swap Goofy for Peter Pan, and talk to Tinker Bell to investigate the Clock Tower.
BOSS - Phantom
Preparation: Gear up with MP-increasing accessories and Keyblades, and stock up on Ethers and Elixirs.
Strategy:
- Cast Stopra on the clock to halt the Doom countdown, which Phantom uses on allies.
- Phantom's orb changes color, indicating the attack type to use: Red for Fire, Blue for Blizzard, Yellow for Thunder, and White for Physical attacks. Map these spells to your quick keys.
- Phantom takes three hits before its orb breaks and it attempts to claw you.
- After attacking, Phantom moves to the clock and casts a poisonous energy ball. Position yourself around the corner of Phantom to avoid this attack. Recast Stopra on the clock every other time Phantom casts this spell.
- Use Ethers/Elixirs to maintain high MP for spellcasting.
The Cloaked Shadow
Defeat the Phantom at the Clock Tower.
Kurt Zisa
The next optional boss is Kurt Zisa, found in Agrabah. Land at Aladdin’s House and talk to Carpet to be taken into the desert.
BOSS - Kurt Zisa
Preparation: Set Aeroga as a quick cast.
Phases:
- Phase 1: Immediately cast Aeroga. Kurt Zisa uses Silencega, canceling spellcasting until his dark orbs are destroyed. He attacks with dashes and swings of his Khopesh weapons. Aeroga helps with damage and mitigation.
- Phase 2: Once orbs are destroyed, Kurt Zisa uses his head to stretch out like a snake. This attack is weak. Heal the damage and attack Kurt Zisa heavily while magic is no longer sealed. Aim to take down at least half his health.
- Phase 3: Kurt Zisa puts up a shield and floats, summoning tornadoes and fireballs. Deal damage to the shield with magic (Blizzard is most effective if all flakes hit). Hitting fireballs back at Kurt is also effective. Physical attacks drop clear orbs to refill the Charge Gauge.
When the shield drops, Kurt Zisa reverts to phase two, then phase one. The third time phase one starts, Kurt Zisa twirls around the battlefield; Dodge Roll or Glide past these attacks to avoid massive damage. You should be able to defeat Kurt Zisa by the third time you enter phase two.
The Sandy Blade
Defeat Kurt Zisa in Agrabah.
The Unknown
The final optional boss is simply listed as “?” in the Journal, titled Unknown. You can face this foe in the Castle Chapel in Hollow Bastion by stepping into the dark portal.
BOSS - Unknown
Preparation: Set shortcuts to Graviga, Aeroga, and Curaga.
Strategy:
- Graviga can bring Unknown to his knees, allowing for physical attacks.
- Start the battle by summoning Tinker Bell.
- Unknown summons a barrier making him impervious to frontal attacks. Stay away from the lightning balls he summons.
Item Synthesis
Learn how to unlock Moogle Shops, gather rare materials, and synthesize powerful items in Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. Your guide to mastering synthesis!
Alright, so you've stumbled upon the Item Synthesis system in Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX! It's a super cool way to craft some awesome gear, but you'll need to get friendly with the Moogles first.
To even get started with synthesis, you need to unlock the Moogle Shop. You do this by getting the Green Trinity ability and using it in the Accessory Shop. It’ll pull down a ladder, and bam! You're in.
After a little intro from a Moogle, you'll be able to start synthesizing. List I is available right away, but to unlock the others, you'll need to craft a certain number of items:
- List II: Craft 3 out of 6 items from List I.
- List III: Craft 9 unique items from Lists I and II combined.
- List IV: Craft 15 unique items from Lists I, II, and III combined. You'll learn Encounter Plus for unlocking this list, which is a nice bonus!
- List V: Craft 21 unique items from Lists I, II, III, and IV combined.
- List VI: Craft all 30 items from Lists I through IV.
You'll also earn some cool titles as you go:
- First Synthesis: Synthesize an item for the first time.
- Synthesis Novice: Synthesize 3 types of items.
- Synthesis Amateur: Synthesize 15 types of items.
- Synthesis Vet: Synthesize 30 types of items.
- Synthesis Master: Synthesize all items.
Now, where do you get all the stuff you need? Some materials, like Dark Matter and Mythril, can be found in chests, but you can also synthesize them! Mystery Goo comes from Rare Truffles or White Mushrooms. Gale is dropped by Invisibles at the End of the World. And those handy Stones? You get them from new enemies in the Final Mix version.
Here's a breakdown of some materials and where to find them:
| Material | Heartless | Location |
| Blazing Stone | Chimera | Halloween Town |
| Dazzling Stone | Jet Balloon | Neverland |
| Energy Stone | Stealth Soldier | Hollow Bastion |
| Frost Stone | Grand Ghost | Monstro |
| Fury Stone | Gigas Shadow | Wonderland |
| Lightning Stone | Black Ballade | Deep Jungle |
| Mythril Stone | Pot Scorpion | Agrabah |
| Power Stone | Sniper Wild | Traverse Town |
| Serenity Power | Pink Agaricus | Deep Jungle/Atlantica |
| Stormy Stone | Neoshadow | End of the World |
Keep an eye out for these enemies and locations as you explore, and you'll be well on your way to crafting some of the best gear in the game!
