Alright, so this first bit is all about setting the stage for the big heist. Turns out things back home aren't as quiet as Lincoln expected. The game's gonna flash back and show you how you got into this mess.

February 20, 1968

It's one week before Mardi Gras, and after a cutscene, the game's gonna give you a quick tutorial on marking objectives. Here’s the drill: Press the Options button, then use the L Stick to move the cursor over to the objective on the west side of the map. Once it's highlighted, press X to activate it, and a route will pop up on your map.

♦ Drive to Sammy's Bar

The old man's waiting for you back at his bar. This is a pretty long, uneventful drive. Just try to stick to the traffic laws and don't draw any heat from the cops. You can't skip this drive, unfortunately, so you'll have to put in the miles manually. It's a good chance to chat with your adopted step-brother, Ellis Robinson. Lincoln's Samson Drifter is a seriously sweet ride – way faster and better handling than most cars you'll get later, so don't get too attached. When you finally pull up to the bar, a green downward arrow will pop up, letting you know you've arrived. Park the car, hop out with ⬜, and follow Ellis inside.

♦ Talk to Sammy

It's been a long time, but you're finally home. Sammy throws you a big cutscene welcome home party. There's nothing for you to do here but sit back and watch the show.

♦ Go to Bed

Time to sleep it off. Head downstairs to your bed. If you're feeling like a treasure hunter, there are a couple of collectibles down here: a Playboy magazine on the desk and an Alberto Vargas painting on the back of a support pillar in the room. You can check these out in the collections menu later. Feel free to flip through the Playboys and read the articles too, if you're curious. Once you've had your fill, find the bed in the basement and hold down ⬜ to drift off to sleep.

♦ Talk to Sammy and Ellis

You can find Sammy and Ellis upstairs in the kitchen. Walk upstairs to kick off another cutscene. After that, you'll be heading out with Father James Ballard to deliver some food donations to the needy.
