- 1When Dark Fawful's HP is around 3/4, he will fire an unavoidable laser and send you into a black hole. Escape as usual.
- 2Another black hole will be summoned and deflected behind your opponent. You can now repeatedly punch the castle to send it into there. Be aware that if you send it in there, it has a chance to punch you. Counter with your own punches.
- 3When Dark Fawful's HP is around 1/2, the black holes are drawn closer together and the shield from the previous phase is released. Use your fire breath a few times to hope for a Mushroom.
- 4When Dark Fawful's HP is around 1/5, both you and the castle are forced into the black holes. Time your tackles to avoid the spikes (tackle around a second after the spikes are raised) and to defeat the castle.
- 5In the initial turns of the fight against Dark Fawful, you can only dodge/take hits and heal.
- 6Vacuum Dark Fawful into Bowser to let the Mario Bros. fight the Vacuum Helmet.
- 7Free your bro (the Vacuum Helmet always does this after being Vacuumed up).
- 8If your Specials haven't been Vacuumed yet, use Falling Star. If they have, use regular attacks until it regurgitates them. This is a hurt-and-dodge fight.
- 9When you recommence the battle versus Fawful, use Broggy Bonker or Magikoopa Mob on Fawful until he's KO'ed. Dodge all of his attacks and heal when needed.
- 10For the Dark Bowser fight, punch when possible during Boulder attacks and shell guard.
- 11During the Caged attack, punch rapidly and repeatedly.
- 12For the Punch attack, perform punch counters, then a shell guard.
- 13For Minions, use a combo of punches and shell guards, being sure to shell guard at the end.
- 14For the Dark Star Core, jump over Star Rings if they will hit.
- 15Jump over the Aerial Tackle; it's fast.
- 16Use Hammer counters for Energy Orbs.
- 17Hang onto Starlow during the Giant Laser attack.
- 18Jump when reasonable during the Jump "Spear?" attack.
- You can't really do anything the first turns of the Dark Fawful fight except dodge/take hits and heal.
- The Vacuum Helmet fight is essentially a hurt-and-dodge fight with no real strategy other than brute force.
- The battle versus Fawful later also has no real strategy beyond dodging and healing.
- When Dark Fawful's HP is around 1/2, use fire breath to hope for a Mushroom.
- Dark Fawful: Luck Charm, Star Candy
- Vacuum Helmet: None
- Dark Bowser: None
- Dark Star Core: None
