Learn about the Fw 190, a sturdy all-round fighter in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, designed by Dr. Kurt Tank. Total production was 20001.

The Fw 190, designed by Dr. Kurt Tank, was one of the greatest fighters of World War II. It was built as a sturdy all-round fighter, not a lightweight interceptor. Early Fw 190A models were superior to the Spitfire Mk.V and better than the Bf 109, except at high altitudes. The radial-engine Fw 190 was also successfully developed into a series of fighter-bombers.

The Fw 190D-series featured a liquid-cooled Junkers engine instead of the radial BMW, and had increased span and length. This Fw 190D was a very good high-altitude interceptor, comparable to the P-51D or Spitfire XIV, and did not have the altitude limitations of the Fw 190A. It served as a stepping-stone to the Ta 152. Total Fw 190 production reached 20001 units.

Tips
  • The Fw 190A's advantage was not at high altitudes.
  • The Fw 190D was specifically designed to overcome the Fw 190A's altitude limitations.
