Start Megabonk by unlocking Banish and Toggler meta upgrades. Master Fox and Sir Oofie, and find all 5 Forest secret areas for progression.

Upon starting Megabonk, you begin with Fox and Sir Oofie, two of the 20 available characters. Your initial runs should focus on understanding character abilities and exploring the map. Prioritize unlocking key meta upgrades like Banish and Toggler to gain control over your item pool early in your progression.

• Starting Characters: You begin with Fox and Sir Oofie.
• Early Game Exploration: Use the opening minutes of a run to explore the map.
• Character Vibe: Find a character that suits your playstyle. Fox has specific best builds including Clover, Gym Sauce, Battery, Forbidden Juice, Boss Buster, Thunder Mitts, Unstable Transfusion, and Backpack.
• Smart Progression:
  1. Unlock Banish (40 quests) and Toggler (40 unlocks) first. These upgrades allow you to control your item pool.
  2. After securing Banish and Toggler, complete quests strategically for specific unlocks.
  3. Use Toggler to disable unwanted items from appearing in your runs.

• Toggler Unlock: Purchase 40 total unlocks (characters, weapons, tomes with Silver) to unlock Toggler, which allows permanent item disabling.
• Hidden Areas: Discover all 5 secret areas in Forest, including Monke's Cage (requires Gold Key for Monke character), Suspicious Bush (secret boss spawn), and Ancient Tree Shrine (increased legendary item chance).
