Part 6

Learn strategies for defeating enemies like Mutant Bats, Lycanthropes, and Spriggans in Ninja Gaiden Black. Includes Test of Valor details.

Mutant Bats
These bats swarm you and can quickly reduce your health. Activate the Wind Blades Ninpo (a magical attack) or use combos to defeat them.

Lycanthrope Werewolves
These enemies attack with pounces and melee. Counter their attacks to dismember them or use ON-LAND CHARGES (a charged attack) to weaken and kill them.

Silver Gaja & Red Gaja
These gorgon-type snakes are more dangerous on water. Lure them to dry land and use the Izuna Drop (an aerial combo) to defeat them.

Land Mines
These appear only in Chapter 8. Follow the footprints shown on the snow to avoid them.

Exploding Jellyfish
These are hard to see and explode when you get near them in water. Destroy them using the Gatling Gun.

Blood Fish
These appear in Chapters 9 and 14. Use the Gatling Gun while underwater to defeat them.

Ghost Fish
These appear in Chapter 5 (and parts of Chapters 6 & 12). Use the Kusari-gama or Vigoorian Flails to eliminate them in groups, or use the Gatling Gun when underwater.

Water Sentry
These robot sentries appear only in Chapter 9. Use the Water Run (a movement technique) to approach them and then use a combo with the Scythe (level 3) to kill them instantly.

Spriggan AKA Chainsaw Zombie
Evade their chainsaw or cannonballs, then use an Ultimate (a powerful finishing move) to dismember them. Obliterate (a finishing move) the zombie and repeat the strategy using ON-LAND CHARGES with leftover Essence (magical energy dropped by enemies).

Executors & Mecha-Fiend
The best weapon against these half-robot enemies is the Eclipse Scythe. Use mid-air Scythe combos to weaken them for Obliteration. If overwhelmed, use the Wind Blades Ninpo.

Acid Worms
These appear only in Chapter 10. Do not fight them up close. Equip the Incendiary Shurikens and use a level 2 charge to decrease their health.

Skull Spiders & Large Dung Beetles
Use any weapon to slice them, then use leftover Essence to perform Ultimates.

Marionette Spiders
These appear in Chapters 13 & 14. Use hard combos to weaken them (they explode but keep moving), then use Obliteration. Alternatively, use Wind Blades Ninpo on a group to weaken them all for Obliteration.

Pokemon Dragon Boi
This dragon appears only in Chapter 12. Use the On-Land Charge UT (Ultimate attack) to weaken it, then use hard combos.

Centaurs
These are most lethal when approached head-on. Stay immobile near a wall, block their attack, and strike them as they turn around.

Zombie Enemy Note
In Chapters 12-13, zombified versions of Black Spider Ninjas, Incendiary Dogs, Rasetsu, and Van Gelf appear but are no different to defeat.

Test of Valor

When Ryu reaches the Castle Gates of the Hayabusa Village in Chapter 2, he will be overwhelmed by ninjas. After eliminating a group, the ROD OF TRIALS will be unlocked. This item enables participation in Fiend Challenges called the Test Of Valor. From Chapter 3 up to Chapter 11, glowing portals will appear in each level, teleporting Ryu to a battle arena with over 100 enemies. The goal is to defeat all enemies to win a prize, usually a health enhancement item like a LIVES OF THE THOUSAND GODS or TALISMAN OF REBIRTH.
