Base Design & Overlays: Utilize overlays (Temperature, Thermal Comfort, Power) to plan your base effectively. Avoid digging out everything at once.

Temperature Management: Keep sensitive areas like bedrooms and greenhouses away from heat sources. Use materials like granite for decor bonuses and igneous rock or abyssalite for thermal insulation in greenhouses. Place heat-generating structures like power generators away from plants.

Food Production: Start with Mealwood for early game due to low dupe expectations. Transition to Bristle Berries (cooked into Gristle Berries) which require water and light, ideally powered by a coal generator. Consider hydroponic farm tiles to save dupe time. Mushrooms (fried) offer a good alternative. To prevent food spoilage, keep greenhouses full of CO2 or store food in ration boxes within an ice biome, especially if immersed in CO2.

Dupe Management: Limit your dupe count to a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 until you have sufficient resources. Overpopulation leads to shortages in food and oxygen.

Dupe Rooms & Stress: Build specialized rooms like barracks (stamina regeneration) and latrines (stress relief). Managing dupe stress is crucial, especially after recent game patches.
