Walkthrough

From your arrival point in Viridian City, head north until you see the red-roofed Pokemon Center.

Go north-east behind the Pokemon Center to find the blue-roofed Poke Mart.

Speak with the man standing outside the Poke Mart.

He will ask you to deliver a Parcel to Professor Oak.

You will then be asked if you want to skip back to Professor Oak's lab immediately.

It is most convenient to accept this offer, but you can choose to do other things first.

If you choose to do other things, head back to Pallet Town and enter the lab to deliver the Parcel.

Tips

You can choose to complete other tasks before returning to Professor Oak's lab, but it is most convenient to go directly after accepting the delivery.
