BOSS: Grovyle

Learn how to handle the Grovyle boss fight in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. Discover his weaknesses, strategies, and what happens after the battle.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Type: Grass
• Weaknesses: Ice, Poison, Bug, Flying
• Resistances: Water, Rock, Ground
• Key Move: Leaf Blade (deals significant damage, especially to types weak to Grass)

Phases:

1. The Fight: You'll face Grovyle. He's a tough opponent and can deal a lot of damage with Leaf Blade. If you've brought Pokémon or moves that exploit his Grass typing (Ice, Poison, Bug, Flying), now's the time to use them. Putting him to Sleep is also a very effective strategy if you have the means.
2. The Escape: Don't worry too much about winning. Grovyle is scripted to knock you out in one hit, leaving your partner barely conscious. He'll then escape, and Dusknoir will appear. Dusknoir and Grovyle seem to know each other, and Grovyle teleports away, with Dusknoir following.

Strategy:

• Focus on exploiting Grovyle's weaknesses if you want to deal damage, but remember that the outcome of the fight isn't critical to the story.
• Moves like Sleep Powder or status-inflicting items can be very helpful to control Grovyle's aggressive attacks.
• Even if you lose, the story will continue. Dusknoir will step in, and Grovyle will escape, leading into the next part of the story where you're taken to the guild.

Aftermath:

After the fight, you'll be taken back to the guild to heal. You'll learn that Grovyle is from the future and plans to plunge the world into darkness. Dusknoir is also from the future and aims to stop him. You'll be tasked with spreading rumors to help Dusknoir lure Grovyle into a trap. Later, Dusknoir captures Grovyle and opens a dimensional hole to send him back to the future. However, in a twist, Dusknoir pulls you and your partner into the hole with him, leading to the next chapter.
