Unlocking the Grove's Secrets

Enter Rotwood Downtown from the sewers. You'll find three altars in front of a locked door leading to the Rotwood Cemetery.

Locate the three unique canes required to unlock the gate:

• One cane is found in the Rotwood School.

The second cane is in the Crimson Reels cinema.

The third cane is in Bethany’s Curse and Crafts.

As you explore Downtown, you'll encounter numerous enemies. It's advisable to conserve ammunition and run past roaming zombies in open areas, saving bullets for necessary fights and boss encounters.

Bethany’s Curse And Crafts: From the intersection, head towards the gate with the school behind it. Continue past it to find a hidden garage with resources and storage access. Proceed to Bethany’s Curse and Crafts. Interact with the moth monument. Find one part of the moth downstairs and the other part after solving a riddle in a room downstairs. The riddle involves rotating a triangle to match portraits: The Lovers (The Stars), The Devil (The Sun), and Death (The Moon). Combine the moth parts and place them in the monument to obtain the first cane.

Gunderson’s General Store: After exiting Bethany’s Curse and Crafts, proceed to Gunderson’s General Store. Find a journal tape and a corpse with the gun room key. Obtain the grenade launcher from the locked room upstairs. Continue past the corpse room to find Bill and Zach. Zach gives you a Ritual Medallion. Save your game. Exit and use the sewer opening tool to enter a sewer area with green zombies. Navigate to the other side and use the ladder to exit.

Vincent Rypard’s House: After resurfacing, enter Vincent Rypard’s house. Defeat the two bloated zombies. Inside, you can save and access storage. An optional puzzle involving three portraits (Life, Pain, Death) and a riddle on the wall can be solved by pressing the buttons in the correct order (Life, Pain, Death). This opens a secret pathway to the basement laboratory. Use the control panel to manually activate the lift in the sewers, saving your partner. Exit the house, find a Ripper’s Tape in a mouth-tree, and use the opened sewer to return to downtown.

The Crimson Reel: Use the Ritual Medallion received from Zach to open the gate. Prepare for a fight against numerous zombies. The Crimson Reel cinema is locked. To get the key, go to Video Outlaw. Upstairs in Video Outlaw, you can save, access storage, and find a hammer.
