Why This Walkthrough?

Your friendliest guide to Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse! Get the simplest, step-by-step, spoiler-free walkthrough for all main quests. Focus on efficiency, not completion.

Hey there, Nanashi! So, you're diving into Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and want to make sure you don't miss a beat on the main story? That's exactly what this walkthrough is here for. Think of me as your experienced buddy, guiding you through the game without all the extra fluff or confusing jargon.

My main goal here is to give you the absolute simplest, step-by-step, and spoiler-free path to finishing the main quests. I know some guides can be a bit overwhelming, so I've tried to keep things straightforward. Here's what that means:

  • Simplest Possible: We're not going to get bogged down in every single item you can find or every single boss's every move. The game's full of cool stuff to discover on your own, and how much you explore is totally up to you. This guide focuses on getting you through the main story efficiently.
  • Step-by-Step: When it's time to move the story forward, I'll give you the minimal directions needed. It's all about keeping you on track and progressing without getting lost.
  • Spoiler-Free: I'll do my best to keep major plot points, character names, and key items under wraps until you encounter them. Any boss weaknesses will be subtly noted so you can see them if you're looking, but they won't jump out and ruin the surprise. Just a heads-up, though: names of places like Shibuya or Kasumigaseki aren't considered spoilers here, just helpful reminders.

Basically, if your main goal is to reach the end of the game without unnecessary detours, you've come to the right place. We're aiming for efficiency, not necessarily 100% completion.

A quick note on the version history below: it shows how this guide has evolved over time, with playtesting and refinements to make sure it's as clear and helpful as possible.

Version Notes

  • v1.00: The whole walkthrough is done and playtested from start to finish. Huge thanks to Amadeus for the help!
  • v0.93: Content has been playtested up through the 7/8 section, and the wording for a couple of dungeons has been cleaned up.
  • v0.91: Updating the formatting to look better. Playtested content through the 6/8 section.
  • v0.9: Almost finished with the walkthrough content and formatting. Still need to update the descriptions for the Full Moon section.
  • v0.85: I'm cleaning up the full walkthrough by adding in the quest names. Also experimenting with changing the font color for boss info to hide spoilers better.
  • v0.8: The bullets inside a table format wasn't working well on mobile, so I'm reconfiguring that. Also removed some extra info in the 3/8 section.
  • v0.7: Formatting should be better and more readable on different devices now. Some details in the walkthrough are still missing, but there's content for every main part of the game. I still need to resolve some bracketed/highlighted info and figure out the best way to present boss weaknesses.
  • v0.5: Got a basic format down that I think will work. The prologue through 1/8 section is an example. I've added some main quest names but I'm not sure if I'll keep them due to spoilers... though I might still use some for clarity. Still unsure about boss weaknesses – spoiler tags are hard to read on mobile, and a separate section feels like too much. More to come.
  • v0.4: Working on the formatting. The prologue through 1/8 quests are a bit rough, but the content is there. There should be basic descriptions for almost the entire game, just missing a few details. Still trying to remove spoiler tags because they're tough to review on all platforms. Sections with brackets and highlights are incomplete or might be wrong.
  • v0.3: This is the first version posted. The walkthrough for main quests covers segments 1/8 through 7/8. Prologue and early quest write-ups are still being worked on. The final quest walkthrough is incomplete, but there are some notes that might be confusing if you try to read them. I've been working on this guide mostly alone, except for a map of a specific dungeon that I needed to start my next playthrough.

Get the lowdown on the Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse guide, its purpose, and what it covers. Perfect for newcomers and returning players needing a refresher on story objectives.

Hey there! So, you've stumbled upon this guide, huh? I put this together because I wanted to share my personal notes, especially if you're new to Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse or just need a little nudge to get through the main story objectives. What started as a quick list of tips for myself to breeze through the game and snag those two bad endings turned into a full-blown, spoiler-free walkthrough. The main quests are pretty direct, but this guide should keep you pointed in the right direction once you're geared up and leveled for whatever's next. Right now, this version (1.0) sticks strictly to the Main Quests, but who knows, maybe I'll expand it later if there's enough interest. Anyway, thanks for checking it out!
