Counter-Building & Adaptability

Smite counter-building: adapt item choices to enemy composition, anti-heal, defensive items, and CC reduction.

Never stick to a rigid build. The most successful players adapt their item choices based on the enemy team composition and how the game is progressing. If the enemy has multiple healers, build anti-heal (e.g., Brawler's Beat Stick, Divine Ruin). If they have heavy basic attack damage, build items like Midgardian Mail. If they have a lot of crowd control, consider Spirit Robe or Magi's Cloak. Being able to counter-build effectively is a sign of advanced gameplay.
