Q. Why can't I get <INSERT CHARACTER'S NAME HERE>'s Mystic Arte to work?!

A. Check and double-check that character's activation conditions for their Mystic Arte. Most importantly, make sure the 'Special' skill is equipped and that you are HOLDING THE CORRECT BUTTONS TO ACTIVATE THE MYSTIC ARTE. Several require holding multiple buttons.

Q. Why didn't the cutscene to obtain the Brionac activate in Caer Bocram?!

A. The Brionac quest is very picky. If the cutscene doesn't activate, reload a backup save from before beginning the side quests in Aurnion, repeat the steps, and it should work. It is highly suggested to create a backup save before beginning the string of side quests in Aurnion.

Q. Why am I only doing 1 damage to all the enemies?!

A. Check your Weapon Skills and turn off 'Half Damage,' 'Quarter Damage,' and 'Minimum Damage.'

Q. Why does my TP drop every time I do a normal attack?!

A. Check your Weapon Skills and turn off 'Rise Attack.'

Q. I can't beat <INSERT BOSS NAME HERE>! Your strategy isn't working!

A. My strategy is a suggestion; your mileage may vary. Experiment with different approaches. Identify what is going wrong (e.g., casters not casting, melee fighters getting overwhelmed). Adjust your partners' AI in Strategy Settings. Shut off Artes you don't want AI partners to use, focusing on those that exploit boss weaknesses (e.g., Rita's water Artes against a water-weak boss). Use cooking for stat boosts.

Q. I can't complete the <INSERT SECRET MISSION HERE> against that boss!

A. Many Secret Missions are difficult and require luck, trial, and error. Lowering the difficulty can help. If not, you'll need to persevere. Tips for each Secret Mission are in the walkthrough; some took dozens of tries even when the strategy was known.

Q. I can't get this Side Quest to activate/continue! Can I still do it?!

A. Tales of Vesperia has strict windows for Side Quests. If nothing is happening, you have likely missed it forever until your next playthrough. Following the guide from the beginning should prevent this, as Side Quests are listed as soon as they are available. Do Side Quests immediately unless they are cooking-related or have a stated no-time-limit.

Q. I need the Endless Heart weapon for the Collector's Book, but Heliord isn't selling it!

A. Endless Heart is only available for a short time in Heliord. Prioritize buying it on your first visit to Heliord if you care about the Collector's Book. If it's no longer there, you'll have to wait until New Game +.

Q. Why can't I watch Skits during New Game +?!

A. Skits viewed cannot be viewed again. Skit viewing is tied to your 'Records.' To watch Skits on New Game +, do not carry over your 'Records' from the Grade Shop.

Q. Why don't you have a Side Quest section?

A. This walkthrough assumes you are following it from the beginning, so Side Quests are interwoven. Most Side Quests are missable, making a separate section impractical for players who reach the end without completing them. Therefore, no dedicated Side Quest section is planned.

Q. Is this walkthrough compatible with the Xbox 360 version of Tales of Vesperia?

A. No. This guide is for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC). The Xbox 360 version is 'vanilla' and lacks new bosses, areas, characters, and Side Quests, making the differences too vast for compatibility.

Q. How can I translate the Playstation 3 version into English?

A. I will not discuss, encourage, or endorse unauthorized translations.
