Weasand of Cados

A complete walkthrough for the Weasand of Cados in Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, including item locations, side quests, and the Pteropus boss fight strategy.

Enter the Weasand of Cados for a scene and a fight. After winning, another scene plays. When you regain control, open a nearby chest for 3x Seal Bottles, then another for a Limit Bottle. Continue down the lower path and open a chest for a Mighty Guard. Backtrack and take the upper path to another fork.

The lower path leads to the optional Giganto Hermit Drill boss. It is a very difficult fight, so it is recommended to ignore it for now. Enter a battle with it and run away to see an easily missable skit.

Take the upper path to another fork. Take the eastern path to find a Spike Bow. Go north onto the next screen for a scene.

Weasand of Cados Side Quest: Learn The Recipe For Fisherman's Hot Pot

Have Patty cook the Seafood Bowl recipe until you learn the recipe for Fisherman's Hot Pot.

Go right and follow the path. Open a pair of chests for a War Harpoon and an Aquamarine. Behind the rocks, out of sight, is a chest containing a Visse. Backtrack and take the left path until you find a chest containing an Avenger's Scroll. Continue following the path for a scene, then proceed.

By the save point, take the left north path to claim a Jiraiya. Go back and head all the way east to a chest containing a Spine Ripper. Take the right north path and go down at the fork. Follow the path to the end and open the chest hidden behind the rocks for a Silver Circlet. Return to the fork and go north to the next screen. Follow the linear path to a save point, then continue to the next boss fight.

Secret Mission:

Destroy the leader bat.

Note:

When Pteropus splits up, use a Magic Lens on the Leader Bat, Attack Bat, and Magic Bat.

Strategy:

Start by fighting the single, large bat. After dealing enough damage, it splits into smaller bats of three types: Attack Bats (melee), Magic Bats (spellcasters), and the Leader Bat. Focus all attacks on the Leader Bat to prevent the bats from reforming. Rita is highly effective here; use her Over Limit with her Tractor Beam and Burst Arte to damage the Leader Bat and other bats. Switch back to Yuri when Rita's Over Limit is depleted and continue attacking the Leader Bat. This fulfills the Secret Mission and prevents reformation. Next, defeat the Magic Bats, followed by the Attack Bats. Estelle should use Nurse throughout the fight for healing. This can be a difficult battle.

After the scene, check south for a chest containing a Simple Tent and search left for a hidden Silver Hat. Leave the cave to the north. Immediately re-enter the cave.
