Recharge items (also known as Spacebar Items) can be used multiple times. To use, you simply press Spacebar and the item takes affect. Effects can vary widely. All recharge items have the 'Space to Use' message displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen on pick up. Each item has a unique room charge value. This means that you must complete a specific amount of rooms that involve combat before the item is fully recharged and can be used again. To see how close your item is to charging up, see the six bars just to the right of the Spacebar item box. Once you get six light grey bars, the item is fully recharged. So if an item takes 3 rooms to recharge, 2 bars will fill each time you successfully complete a combat room. The only Room Recharge value that doesn't rise linearly is the 4 room recharge. It increases first by 1, then 2, then 1 again and finally 2, which completely recharges the item.

Anarchist Cookbook

  • TABLE POSITION: Row 8, Column 3
  • ROOM RECHARGE: 3
  • EFFECT: When used, an image of the item fills the screen followed by the spawning of 6 troll bombs in random locations around the room.
  • COMMENTS: This item can be very useful. Make sure you use it in a room that's full of enemies, especially difficult ones. It can also be used if you don't have enough bombs and you want to destroy rocks to get to items, because chances are that at least one bomb will destroy the rock that you want it to. When you use it, keep in mind that the bombs damage you too, so stay away. The explosions of one bomb push others around, so watch out and predict where bombs will be pushed to and move to somewhere where they won't be. This item can be very strong against bosses though.

A Pony

  • TABLE POSITION: Row 12, Column 9
  • ROOM RECHARGE: 4
  • EFFECT: The character can now fly and has a bonus to speed at all times that this item is held. When used, the next arrow key that's pressed will send you flying at a high speed in that direction. You're invincible until you hit the wall and stop. Any enemies that you touch until you hit the wall will be dealt high amounts of damage.

Tarot Cards (Partial List)

VII The Chariot

  • Equips the character with a unicorn horn for a few seconds, making them invulnerable. The character proceeds to flash rainbow colours, a pleasant jingle plays and the character can kill enemies on touch, but cannot fire projectiles except for Mom's Knife.

VIII Justice

  • Spawns 1 key, 1 bomb, 1 full heart and 1c at the player's feet.

IX The Hermit

  • Teleports you to the shop if there is one on the current floor. Otherwise, it teleports you to a random room, including special rooms (Challenge Room, Boss Room etc.).

X Wheel Of Fortune

  • Spawns a Slot Machine next to the player.

XI Strength

  • Causes the character to shoot large drops of blood and raises various stats. This is only effective for one room.

XII The Hanged Man

  • Allows the character to fly. Effective for one room. Visual Effect: Removes player's body, so it's just a floating head.

XIII Death

  • When used, displays a large angry-looking skull. Deals a large amount of damage to all enemies in the room.

XIV Temperance

  • Spawns a blood donation machine.

XV The Devil

  • Raises attack. Blood is now streaming from the player's eyes, the eyes are black and the player has an angry look. Same effect as Book of Belial. Effective for one room.

XVI The Tower

  • Spawns 6 troll bombs in random places in the room.

XVII The Stars

  • Teleports character to the treasure room. If the current floor doesn't have a treasure room then the character will teleport to a random room.

XVIII The Moon

  • Teleports character to the secret room.

XIX The Sun

  • Displays an enlarged version of the Tarot Card. Extremely heavy damage to all enemies, heals player and reveals the rest of the floor and the type of each room on the floor.

XX Judgement

  • Spawns a beggar next to the character.

XXI The World

  • Reveals every room and the room type on the floor, including Secret Rooms.
Tips
  • Make the most of items like VII The Chariot, as they are often temporary but powerful.
  • Use the Anarchist Cookbook in rooms full of enemies or for destroying rocks, but be mindful of the bomb blast radius.
  • A Pony provides invincibility while dashing; use this to your advantage to deal high damage to enemies.
  • The Sun Tarot Card is extremely useful for its damage, healing, and map reveal capabilities.
