Master the second phase of The Mourning King boss fight in The Rogue Prince of Persia. Learn his patterns, effective counters, and how to use the new Step of Ormazd power.

Alright, you're back at the temple, and it's time to face the King again. As soon as you approach the glowing powers, a scene kicks off. The King's back, but uh oh, things aren't quite as you might expect!

Stats / Weaknesses:

• The Mourning King (Part II) has no new attacks.
• He's more aggressive than his first encounter.
• He can attack multiple times in a row if you don't deflect.
• Elika does not participate in this fight, limiting your combo options.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Standard Combat - The King attacks aggressively. Focus on deflecting his strikes to open him up for counter-attacks. Try out some new combos to work towards your Trophy. Remember, you can't use Elika's assist combos here.
2. Phase 2: Fleeing King - After losing more than half his health, the King will attempt to flee. You can still trigger a Quick Time Event (QTE) by forcing him towards the edges of the arena. Keep blocking, deflecting, and countering to finish him off.

Strategy:

• Your main goal is to deflect his attacks. A successful deflection will often leave him vulnerable.
• Since Elika isn't with you, you'll be relying more on your solo combos. Experiment to see what works best.
• Don't forget about the QTEs! Try to corner him to trigger them for extra damage.
• Just keep up the pressure with blocks, deflections, and counters, and this fight will be over before you know it.

Once you've dealt enough damage, the King will retreat. After the following scene, head over to the glowing emblems. It's time to pick another power. The choice is yours, but for this walkthrough, we're going with the red power: Step of Ormazd. You'll be transported to the blue world again. Run to the first plate and activate it. This new power lets Elika flip through the air and launch you forward a good distance, similar to the blue power. Use this to cross the area and then exit back to the Temple.

With the Step of Ormazd now in your arsenal, you'll be able to reach some Light Seeds that were previously out of reach. We'll take a quick detour to grab those now.
