Learn to buy and sell items, renovate houses, and access Build Mode in The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy. Discover item benefits and how to find objects.
Build Mode is accessed by clicking the build icon in the upper right corner of the user interface (UI) or by pressing F1. A bar will appear at the bottom of the screen, displaying all available items for purchase and renovation options for your house. To sell objects, click on an item and drag it to the "sell" icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.
On the lower left side of the screen, you will find four main icons:
- Build: This option allows you to construct a pre-made, stylized room for your house, though it is very expensive.
- Objects by Room: Search for objects based on their typical location within a home, including Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room, Study, Kids' Room, and Outdoors.
- Objects by Function: Search for objects based on their purpose, categorized under Comfort, Surfaces, Plumbing, Activities and Skills, Decorations, Kids, Lighting, Electronics, Appliances, and Storage.
- Household Inventory: Items can be stored here if not currently in use and are accessible across all your Sims.
Above these icons is a search bar, which may be obscured by tutorial windows. On the right-hand side, a filtering option allows you to narrow down your search by specific styles, colors, or item types. As you select different icons, the items displayed in the center of the screen will update accordingly.
When you select an item you are interested in purchasing, a small pop-up window will appear. This window displays the item's price, a brief description (often humorous and worth reading), and its benefits. Each item provides specific types and amounts of benefits. For instance, a bed might rate 5 for restoring energy (one of the six basic needs) and also offer stress relief.
More expensive items often provide greater benefits. For example, a bed costing three times as much might rate 10 for energy and 8 for stress relief, in addition to providing decor points for your bedroom. Generally, higher-priced items offer more perks compared to the basic versions, which might only satisfy one or two needs.
Splurging on better items is often advantageous as they restore needs bars faster and can serve multiple purposes. While some high-quality items are only available after mastering the 10th and final level of a specific career, others may require reaching level 6 in a career path. Many such items are mixed in with those accessible to any Sim.
Along the top of the screen, a row of icons enables manual renovation. This includes adding new rooms, painting, altering the layout of your land, and moving your entire house with a single mouse click. If you have the necessary property and funds, manual renovation is an option, but be aware that it can be very time-consuming due to its in-depth and enjoyable nature.
