Learn about aiming, grenades, Claymores, enemy detection, and binoculars in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Aiming Mechanics:
When you have a gun out, you will see a circle surrounded by 4 yellow dots. As you move, the distance of these dots from the circle changes. The area between the dots represents the approximate area where a bullet would travel if fired; if the reticule (the aiming circle and dots) is spread far apart, the bullet can land anywhere within that spread. Laying down will decrease the size of the reticule for all zoom levels, while standing up will increase its size.
Claymore Placement:
Claymores (proximity-activated explosive devices) will only detonate in the direction you are facing when you place them. If you are positioning them in front of an entrance, place them as close as possible, as they can detonate slightly to the side.
Grenade Throwing:
The longer you hold the fire button when throwing a Frag grenade, the farther it will travel.
Enemy Detection:
A sensor can detect an enemy's heartbeat within a certain radius. This information is displayed on your command map (a type of radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked)), showing you the exact location of the enemy. However, enemies positioned directly over the sensor might not appear on the map.
Binoculars vs. Sniper Scopes:
Binoculars can zoom in slightly farther than a sniper scope. Binoculars offer 4 levels of zoom, while sniper scopes have only three. Pressing the fire button on the binoculars will immediately activate the third zoom level, bypassing the first two.
- For better accuracy, always try to aim while prone (laying down) to reduce your reticule spread.
- When placing Claymores, ensure they are positioned to cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) the intended area effectively, as their blast radius can extend slightly sideways.
- Experiment with grenade hold times to gauge the optimal distance for different combat scenarios.
- Be aware that the enemy detection sensor has limitations; enemies very close to the sensor might not be detected.
- Utilize the binoculars' quick zoom feature to rapidly acquire targets at medium to long range.
