Master the street, vert, and best trick contests in Tony Hawk's Underground's Kill the Comp chapter. Learn how to place and win.
Walkthrough
- 1Place in the street comp: You have three turns, each 30 seconds long, to impress the judges within the street comp area. Focus on grinding rails and manuals, incorporating quick vert tricks off ramps. Holding a combo after time expires is key. Avoid bailing, as it hurts your score. The top two scores from your three rounds are averaged, and you must place in the top five.
- 2Place in the Vert comp: Similar to the street comp, you have three 30-second turns within the HP set between the SPOT buildings. Build speed for high air, perform sick combos, and revert upon landing to initiate a manual for another vert trick. Comboing is crucial. If you risk bailing or are not angled correctly, get off your board to conserve your combo. You must place in the top five.
- 3Get onto the roof of SPOT: Jump to the front overhang and climb up, then do the same for the narrower overhang. Climb the ladder on the narrow ledge to reach the roof.
- 4Beat 30,000 points on the rooftop: You have 2:00 to achieve this. Create a continuous line of tricks, either on one rooftop or switching between them, without falling to the ground. Nailing a Special grind on the long, angled red pipe on the SPOT Comp building roof is recommended.
- 5Win the Best Trick Contest (FINAL): In this contest, the skater with the lowest score is eliminated every thirty seconds (at 1:30, 1:00, 0:30, 0:00). Eric will be one of the final two skaters. Use the street comp area's terrain for street and vert tricks. Avoid hesitating or bailing, and do not leave the area or enter the bleachers, as this will cause you to lose your combo.
- 6Beat Eric's score: You have 1:00 to beat Eric's score. Link together big combos using the terrain to your advantage. Focus on your own lines rather than attempting to Headsmack Eric. Beating his score wins you the Tampa AM comp.
Tips
- In contests, don't leave the designated area or go into the seats/bleachers, as this will cause you to lose your combo and precious time.
- Don't bail during contests, as it negatively impacts your score.
- In contests, the lowest two scores from five judges are dropped, and the remaining three are averaged. The lowest overall score from your turns is then dropped, and the highest two are averaged to determine your final standing.
- If you look like you're about to overshoot a landing or bail, get off your board to land on your feet and conserve your combo.
- The roof of SPOT has limited individual elements, so focus on creating a continuous line of tricks for high scores.
- A Special grind on the long, angled red pipe on the SPOT Comp building roof is a good way to score big points on the rooftop.
- In the Best Trick Contest, the list of other skaters and their current scores will appear on the left side of the screen. When a skater is dropped, their name will turn red and "DROPPED OUT" will appear.
