Explore the Scout class in Unicorn Overlord, featuring Elven Fencers, Rogues, Swordmasters, and Werefoxes. Learn their skills, strengths, and how to build them for evasion and damage.

Scouts in Unicorn Overlord are characterized by their high evasion and initiative, attacking with melee strikes. While not all classes officially bear the "Scout" designation, they share similar traits. These units can serve as effective front-line fighters if built with evasion accessories and PP boosts, but are vulnerable if hit directly. They excel at dodging attacks, with some skills even rewarding successful evasions.

Elven Fencer

Characters: Ithilion, Railanor

Valor Skill: Thundercloud - Rain lightning on a position and damage all enemies in range, travels along a line.

The Elven Fencer blends elements of Vanguards and Rogues with magic. They can shield allies from ranged attacks and function as evasion tanks, with Evasive Impetus rewarding dodges. Their active skills deal magical damage, effective against Armor-type enemies. This is a well-rounded unit that requires investment to maximize damage output.

Rogue

Characters: Travis, Gammel

Valor Skill: Plunder - Steal gold from an enemy within range.

Rogues are the initial high-evasion class encountered. They serve as excellent dodge tanks early on, with their Evade skill mitigating damage. While still viable late-game, the prevalence of Truestrike makes them riskier. Rogues are not strong damage dealers, focusing instead on tanking and debuffing. Their Valor skill, Plunder, is crucial for gold farming.

  • Passive Steal (Level 1) — 50 Phys, 2 Hits, 100% Acc., 1 AP Cost, Single Target. Steal all of a target’s PP if they don’t guard the first hit.

  • Shadowbite (Level 20) — 15 Phys, 2 Hits, 100% Acc., 2 AP Cost, Row Target. Inflicts Blindness, Initiative -20, and Evasion -20.
  • Active Steal (Level 30) — 25 Phys, 4 Hits, 100% Acc., 2 AP Cost, Single Target. Steal all of a target’s AP if they don’t guard the first hit.

Swordmaster

Characters: Aramis, Melisandre, Leah

Valor Skill: Quick Impetus - Deploy a sigil that increases initiative of allies by 20 within the area.

The Swordmaster is a hybrid Infantry/Scout class, unique in its ability to equip a second weapon upon promotion. Damage is calculated using the higher attack score, but the second weapon's passives still apply. They can be effective evasion tanks with Parry and deal significant damage due to high critical rates and Truestrikes, making them strong against Thieves, Gryphon Knights, and other Swordmasters. They are recommended for the back row later in the game.

  • Keen Edge (Level 1) — 100 Phys, 1 Hit, TRUE Acc., 1 AP Cost, Single Target. Critical Rate +50%.

  • Charged Impetus (Level 25) — -, -, -, -, 2 PP Cost, Self Target. After using a skill, gain 1 AP and 50% Critical Damage.

Werefox

Character: Dinah

Valor Skill: Jump - Immediately jump to an allied unit. Jump II - Immediately jump to an enemy unit.

Werefoxes boast extremely high evasion and powerful attacks, often inflicting status effects. Their Valor Skill is versatile for reaching allies or engaging enemies. Their passive skills are particularly strong, with Nocturnal Evade (free evasion at night) and Shadow Pursuit (spreads blindness) being notable. Weakness Hunter deals significant damage.
