The Defalt Condition

Guide to completing The Defalt Condition mission in Watch Dogs. Learn how to infiltrate the party, hack Defalt's location, and chase him down.

Alright, so you've got a party to crash at the Ambrose Theater. Don't worry, it's not a real party, it's more of a... situation. First things first, head down the alley next to that WKZ van. You'll see a junction box there – hack it to unlock the side door. This lets you sneak past all the partygoers and use the front entrance. Much smoother, right?

Once you're inside, you'll notice Defalt's been a busy bee, messing with people's phones. Your job is to find these hacked phones, access their profiles, and hack them to pinpoint Defalt's location. Keep an eye out for the ones marked in red; those are your targets.

After you've hacked the three phones, you'll need to get to the access point. You can do this by using the cameras on the balconies above. You'll have to solve some puzzles, but don't let the size intimidate you. Just make sure you pay attention to the timed nodes in the second puzzle – you need to stop them from receiving power before they count down. Nail that, and you're golden.

Once Defalt's computer is yours, he'll trigger a blackout and make a run for it. You need to chase him on foot, so start heading east immediately, even before the lights come back on. You'll need to climb up some boxes to get to where he was. He'll try to trip you up, literally, so don't worry too much about picking up crafting items as you go – just focus on the chase. Climb the ladder and keep moving.

Things get a bit hairy on the roof. Defalt's Fixers are there to protect their boss. You've got a few options: you can cause another blackout and make a run for it, use the environment to take them out, or just go in guns blazing. Your call. Head down the roofs, and when you reach the bottom, Defalt will jump into a car.

Now for the car chase! Pick a car you're comfortable with and stick close to Defalt. Watch his brake lights to time your turns. He'll also try to use traps like Blockers to slow you down if you fall too far behind. Don't sweat it if you get stopped for a bit; Defalt's route circles back, and you can catch up by taking shortcuts. Your goal is to download the data while you're chasing him. Once that's done, you'll need to take him out.
