Your guide to Widow's Lair in Quake II: Ground Zero. Learn how to defeat the Black Widow Guardian and destroy the Gravity Well. Includes enemy info and walkthrough tips.

Alright, let's talk about the Widow's Lair. This is where you'll face off against the Black Widow Guardian, a pretty tough boss, and your main objective is to destroy the Gravity Well. You'll also need to use the Anti-Matter Bomb for that. The mission briefing basically says: find the Gravity Generator, use the antimatter bomb to destroy the Gravity Well, then get back to the research hangar and escape in an experimental fighter. Easy enough, right? Well, not quite. The area itself is home to the fearsome Black Widow Guardian. You'll see some unfortunate Marines who tried and failed to get past her. One Marine, Wonimal, even crashed his pod nearby in a rather spectacular fashion. By this point, you should be pretty comfortable with your abilities, but this fight will really put them to the test. Be prepared for a constant stream of Stalkers – they can be annoying on their own, and the Widow can summon them endlessly. She's one of the most powerful Strogg you'll encounter. Oh, and you might hear one of Stepchild's comrades banging on his pod, yelling 'Let me out'. Don't worry about him; he's driven mad by the Strogg but can't be killed. ### Walkthrough This level is pretty much a boss fight. For detailed advice on taking down the Black Widow Guardian, check out her specific page. ### Enemies The main threats here are the Black Widow Guardian (in her two forms) and the endless Stalkers she summons. ### Secrets None in this level, unfortunately.
