Restorative Mist

Alright, let's talk about a neat little gadget for your MECs: the Restorative Mist. It's a Tactical Subsystem that can really help keep your squad in the fight, especially when things get a bit hairy.

What it Does

Basically, the Restorative Mist lets your MEC restore health to nearby allies. When you use it, it'll heal everyone within 3.5 tiles, including the MEC itself, for a maximum of 4 health per use. Just remember, it won't bring back a fallen soldier or stabilize someone who's down – it's for topping off health bars.

Once you research Improved Medikit, that healing number bumps up to 6 health per use. Pretty sweet!

Important Notes

  • Limited Uses: By default, you only get one use per mission. So, make it count! If your MEC Trooper has the Expanded Storage ability, you can bump that up to two uses, which is a nice little boost.
  • Maximizing Healing: The amount healed doesn't change based on how many soldiers are in the mist. So, try to get as many injured troops as possible into its range to get the most bang for your buck. Even without upgrades, you can potentially heal up to 24 hit points across your squad.
  • MEC vs. Repair Servos: The Mist heals the MEC too, making it similar to Repair Servos. However, if you've got Improved Medikit researched, Repair Servos stops healing after 6 HP. Plus, a Captain-ranked MEC Trooper often takes Expanded Storage for that extra use of the Mist. So, generally, the Restorative Mist is the way to go.
  • Tactical Positioning: If you need to use the Mist in the middle of a fight, be smart about it. Move your MEC to a safe spot, get your wounded soldiers into the Mist's range, use the ability, and then move them back to cover. You don't want your whole squad clustered up in the open, especially with enemies lobbing grenades or using abilities like Rift.
  • Curing Poison: This is a big one! Restorative Mist can cure poison. If your squad gets hit by something nasty like a Poison Spit or a Gas Grenade cloud and they don't have sealed armor, the Mist can save the day.

Keep this in mind, and your MEC will be a valuable support unit on the battlefield!
