Discover how to unlock every Twin weapon in Blades of Fire. This guide details the required enemies and locations for Twin Axes, Mallets, Picks, War Axes, and Warhammers.

Twins, much like their counterpart, Daggers, are some of the tougher weapon types to unlock in the game. The first one will come in the starting area, but the rest will be scattered throughout the rest of this massive adventure, meaning you’ll want to keep on top of them with improved materials before you unlock newer Twins. Much like Daggers, Twins are about speed but, where they shine, is the damage they can pump out on top of that, featuring the highest of any weapon type (and also shared with Polearms). The table below details the general stats of Twins, ranging from one (lowest) to three (highest):

CategoryRating
Speed2
Recovery1
Advance3
Damage3
Stagger2
Strike Area2

A quick glance will tell you all you need to know about Twins, they’re powerful, quick, weapons that also feature the highest Advance rating in the game. Advance is a very useful stat, this indicates how far you move forward when using your attacks, and is especially notable on the charged overhead strike that can catch enemies out before a battle even begins. Naturally, you will have to throw caution to the wind a little, both of the dual weapons mean you’re going to have to get up close to your target.

This means you want to adopt an aggressive playstyle, and you’ll absolutely need to make sure that you don’t skimp out on making sure any weapons you build have high Stamina so you can get in and out without depleting it. The largest difference between Daggers and Twins (beyond the increased damage) is the recovery on the Twins is the lowest of any weapon (shared with Polearms once again), this means you want to make sure you’re safe before you begin recovering your Stamina, or, better yet, getting the job done before then.

As mentioned above, there are two main goals when it comes to forging Twins, the first is to focus on increasing damage as much as you can, as this is where they shine. Pay attention to the Twins you’re using and prioritize Momentum of Penetration accordingly. Likewise, Stamina and Speed are crucial and can be focused on over damage if they would otherwise be too low, it’s no good having dual weapons that are going to leave you open after a few strikes.

Twin Unlocks

As mentioned at the top, there are five Forger Scrolls for you to find for the Twins category, and you’ll find the first of these during the second area of the game, The Hollow Plain. You’ll find each of these in the sections below with details on where you can find the enemies needed to complete the unlock condition.

WeaponRequired Enemies
Twin AxesDefeat 60 Putrids (that are wielding Twins)
Twin MalletsDefeat 10 Forger Sentinels
Twin PicksDefeat 40 The Hiss
Twin War AxesDefeat 15 Anthantoi Shamans
Twin WarhammersDefeat 15 The Hiss from Bastion

Twin Axes

The Twin Axes deal heavy damage at the expense of high Stamina consumption.

StyleCharacteristics
SlashingTop Heavy (+Momentum, -Parry and Stamina), Curved (+Laceration, -Penetration), Flamed (+Laceration, -Block and Parry), and Curved Shaft (-Block, +Stagger)

The first of the Twins category can be obtained as soon as you exit the game’s first area, Besacaar Hamlet to the south and into The Hollow Plain. Once you go south into this area, you’ll start encountering Putrids for the first time and any that you kill that are wielding Twins themselves will count toward the 60 you need to unlock these. Naturally, the best way to farm these enemies then are killing the horde near the northern entrance of The Hollow Plain and then using the Troll River anvil to refresh them and continue.

You’ll be using the Twin Axes for a large chunk of Chapter 1 before the next set of Twins become available, so it’s a good thing that these are strong weapons. The Twin Axes are pure damage-based Twins that are focused on dealing heavy damage as quickly as possible. The downside is the Stamina consumption is high, so don’t completely tank Stamina when building the weapon. One unlocked, go for the Flamed head, as you shouldn’t be blocking and parrying with this weapon anyway. While it may be tempting to add extra Reach to the Twin Axes, it’s not worth the huge penalty to Stamina, stick with either 8 or 16“ Curved.

Twin Mallets

The Twin Mallets are an excellent source of applying Blunt damage quickly.

StyleCharacteristics
BluntWeighted (+Momentum, -Stamina and Dodge), Light (-Momentum, +Stamina and Dodge), Top Heavy (+Momentum, -Parry and Stamina), Curved (+Laceration, -Penetration), and Curved Shaft (-Block, +Stagger)

You’ll have to wait a while before you can earn the next set of Twins, the Twin Mallets, as you won’t encounter the Forger Sentinels until you’re sent back to the Kar-Lethel Swamp from Doyen Graves to retrieve some Automaton pieces. Fortunately, any time you need to charge a medallion to create a path, you’ll have to face three Forger Sentinels, meaning this will take care of itself. If you’re looking to unlock them sooner, however, shortly after you meet your first Sentinels, you’ll make your way to the Coastal Watchtower anvil in Kar-Lethel Swamp. After climbing the ladder here, the wall section features two Forger Sentinels that you can respawn by using the nearby anvil.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Twin Mallets are that they feature the Blunt damage style, usually res
