Walkthrough
- 1Pikmin Management: Olimar can have up to six Pikmin following him. Pikmin are invincible when closely following and not attacking. He can pluck Pikmin quickly, so he should rarely run out.
- 2Ground Attacks (Tilts & Jab):
- Down Tilt: Quick, short-range move that pops opponents up, setting up for aerials.
- 3Forward Tilt: Quick move to knock opponents away; generally outclassed by other options.
- 4Up Tilt: Decent damage racking move that pops opponents up, but Up Smash is often better.
- 5Jab Combo & Running Attack: Average, but running attack also pops opponents up.
- Forward Smash: Hurls a Pikmin a set distance. Slow and not particularly powerful, but has huge range, especially with Blue Pikmin.
- Up Smash: Quick upward Pikmin toss. Good damage, sets up for aerials, and can kill at higher percentages. Use frequently.
- Down Smash: Sends Pikmin forward along the ground and then behind. Useful for unpredictable movement and has good power. Use frequently. Caution near pits, as Pikmin can be lost.
- Neutral Aerial: Decent damage racking move hitting all around; not a Pikmin move, so poor range.
- Forward Aerial: Quick swing with a Pikmin. Great damage and priority.
- Back Aerial: Quick swing with a Pikmin. Great damage and priority. Effective with Purple Pikmin due to range.
- Down Aerial: Short-range swing straight down. An effective spike, great for opponents over ledges.
- Up Aerial: Damage racking move with less KO power than other aerials. Good range and priority due to being a Pikmin move. Useful for chasing opponents upward.
- Grab: A Pikmin toss with standard grab speed and tether grab range. Spectacular, provides a great out-of-shield option. Range is excellent with Blue Pikmin.
- Down Throw: Sets up for aerials, especially with Blue Pikmin.
- Back Throw: Can kill at high percentages, especially with Blue Pikmin.
- Pikmin Pluck: Summons new Pikmin. Use at safe moments on the ground to maintain six Pikmin.
- Pikmin Throw: Throws the next Pikmin in line. Latch onto opponents for residual damage (White Pikmin do more). Purple Pikmin cause stagger, useful for clearing ledges.
- Pikmin Order: Summons Pikmin to Olimar. First use sets order: Red, Yellow, Blue, White, Purple. Subsequent uses cycle the last Pikmin in front.
