STR2 - Mobile Sniping

Mobile sniping (MS) is an advanced technique in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that requires you to shoot from a concealed or distant position while remaining capable of moving readily. This strategy offers no protection as your positions are everchanging, requiring you to move with your team to provide fire support. You need a high degree of map knowledge, especially regarding sniper nests, and the ability to quickly climb onto unconventional spots.

Class Setup:

You can use any rifle for mobile sniping, with either a normal scope or ACOG scope. Bolt-action rifles offer greater power but require more precision. The M40 with an ACOG Scope is noted as superb due to a five-point damage increase from the scope. For this guide, the M82 Barret .50 Cal is used.

• Primary: M82 with Normal Scope
• Secondary: USP .45 with silencer
• Equipment: 1 Stun, 1 Frag
• Perk 1: Bandolier (IMPORTANT)
• Perk 2: Stopping Power/Juggernaut/UAV Jammer (depends on your aim and visibility to enemies)
• Perk 3: Steady Aim (IMPORTANT)

Steady Aim primarily benefits your USP .45, which you may need to use more often. Stopping Power is optional on the M82, allowing flexibility with Perk 2. Juggernaut is recommended if you are frequently spotted visually, while UAV Jammer is useful if you are often detected via radar (minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)).

Practice:

To practice, start in a Private Match with friends. Move around the map to find good setup locations that don't require Claymores. Have your friends fight each other, set up nearby, and quickly take aim at the enemy player. After taking a shot, move behind your teammate until the engagement is resolved, then repeat. Once you are competent, have the enemy friend also attempt to shoot you if they spot you to add realism.

Once confident, transition to public matches. Experiment with different approaches to find what works best for you.
