Alright, let's talk about the gear you'll be strapping onto Sam. This stuff is super important, especially when you're just starting out and figuring out how to keep Sam on his feet and out of trouble. We'll cover the absolute essentials you need to know about your equipment.

Boots: These are probably the most critical piece of gear you'll have. If Sam's boots are gone or completely worn out, his feet are going to start taking damage. Seriously, if your boots are halfway worn, it's a good idea to just swap 'em out. Things get way trickier to navigate without good footwear. That said, even damaged boots are better than no boots at all.

You'll find different kinds of boots throughout the game. The Bridges Boots seem to be the most reliable, but if you're in a bind, MULE or Porter boots will work. You can hang your boots on the boot clip, and their weight varies by type. As a package, they're considered Small size.

Bridges Boots Level 1 become available after you finish Order 7: Recovery: Chiral Printer Interface.

Sandwalweed: This is a handy alternative if you find yourself without any boots. It can also be used as a way to move super quietly, which is perfect for sneaking up on enemies.

Strand: Think of this as your all-in-one tool: it's a rope, it's your Bridges ID, and it's a non-lethal weapon. You can whip out the Strand to tie up MULEs (knocking them out) or to block their attacks.

Sunglasses: Now, these might not give you any actual in-game advantage, but they definitely look cool. Plus, they make Sam's hair fall down, which some people prefer. You can even change the color in your private room – matching it to Sam's suit can be a nice touch if you're not going for the chiral gold look.
