Complete Main Mission 4 in devil may cry 5, learning V's pets Shadow, Griffon, and Nightmare, and how to use Gambit and Checkmate.
As you begin the mission, you have the option to customize V. You cannot purchase skills yet, but you can buy Purple Orbs from the items tab. These increase the maximum capacity for your Devil Trigger. It is recommended to purchase at least one, possibly two, if you have Red Orbs, and save the rest for later.
Walkthrough
- 1Start the mission and run forward into the open area to begin your first fight with V. You will learn about Shadow, V's melee option, during the first phase. Shadow has a basic combo similar to Nero's Red Queen, and can perform a launcher by locking onto an enemy, pressing back and Triangle/Y, then holding the button to follow the enemy into the air for air attacks.
- 2You will also learn about Checkmate, which is how V finishes enemies. After depleting an enemy's health gauge, a second gauge appears. You must run up to the enemy and press Circle/B to finish them while this gauge depletes.
- 3After dispatching the first few enemies, more will spawn and you will learn about Griffon. Griffon is controlled with the Square/X button and his default attack is to shoot energy balls. Hold the button to make Griffon light up, then release it to shoot lightning. Holding R1/RB, pressing back on the left stick, and pressing the attack button makes Griffon unleash a ball of energy around him.
- 4V's strong point is attacking with both pets simultaneously.
- 5You will learn about dodging with V. He uses Shadow to dodge sideways and Griffon to backpedal when dodging backwards. This is important to avoid damage and to keep your pets' health bars, located in the upper left corner of the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap), from emptying.
- 6If a pet's health bar empties, they enter Stalemate and will be out of the battle for a short while. They recover naturally, but standing near their “bubble” speeds up recovery. Dodging helps keep pets healthy as they recover when not taking damage and when close to you. Shadow's dodge is quick and ground-based, while Griffon's is floaty.
- 7Finish off the enemies and pass through the large opening where the barrier dissipated. Follow the linear path, collecting Red Orbs.
- 8In the next open area, Pyrobats will appear, and you will learn about Gambit. By locking onto an enemy in its dying state, you can press Circle/B to dash to them and kill them, which also works on airborne targets.
- 9Take the path shown on your screen and ignore the Red Orbs requiring a jump down. Look straight ahead over a short wall to find a blood clot. Destroy it by smacking it until it's destroyed.
- 10Behind the blood clot is a large Red Orb Cluster. Collect it, then jump down into the trainyard.
- 11In the trainyard, Nightmare will appear. Nightmare can only be summoned with Devil Trigger. Attacking enemies and receiving damage fills the Devil Trigger gauge. Once at level 3 or higher, press L1/LB to summon Nightmare. At base level, Nightmare attacks enemies on his own until Devil Trigger runs out. Summoning Nightmare also restores Shadow and Griffon's health to full, and they become invulnerable while Nightmare is active.
- 12Fight the mostly Empusa enemies and a Hell Caina at the end.
- 13Jump on the containers on one side of the trainyard to find loose Red Orbs. Use these containers to reach a small ledge hiding a Gold Orb next to a tree.
- 14Drop back down and find a White Orb, which refills your Devil Trigger gauge.
- 15Continue forward, and the game will teach you about Stalemate again.
