Kiefer, a charismatic and somewhat reckless noble's son, joins Ruff's party early in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, bringing a unique blend of combat prowess and a penchant for impulsive action. His initial stats often reflect his background as a trained warrior, with a strong emphasis on Strength and Agility. This allows him to deal significant physical damage and often act early in the turn order. His HP is also typically quite high, making him a durable frontline fighter. However, his Intelligence and MP are usually lower than dedicated magic-users, meaning his utility in spellcasting is limited. Kiefer's early game role is primarily that of a damage dealer. He excels at wielding swords and other martial weapons, often learning powerful physical skills that can hit multiple enemies or deal critical damage. His unique abilities, such as Piercing Blow, can bypass enemy defenses, making him effective against heavily armored foes. As the Job system becomes available, Kiefer can be steered into vocations that further enhance his combat capabilities. The Warrior, Fighter, or even the more specialized Gladiator jobs are excellent choices, allowing him to maximize his Strength and learn devastating new attacks. While he might not be the best choice for a pure mage or healer, his physical might is undeniable. His initial appearance and interactions in Pilchard Bay quickly establish his adventurous spirit and his willingness to dive headfirst into danger, often leading the charge against formidable monsters like the Stone Golem.
