Chapter 7 - Into the Fire

Go to the Charleston Fire Department.

Head inside and find a Terminal.

Take the Fire Breather Knowledge Exam. The questions require common sense, but answer keys can be found in the main office upstairs or on marked notes in the same room as the Terminal. If you prefer, the answers are: 1. Evacuate as quickly as possible. 2. A water-soaked rag. 3. Gently bind the burn with clean bandages. 4. Retreat immediately. 5. 1 pt. Purified Water, 2 Ash Rose, 2 Blight, 2 Soot Flower. 6. Fall back and engage from a distance with firearms. 7. End his life as mercifully as possible.

Once you've passed the test, head to the Charleston Herald Building.

Locate a Terminal inside.

Start the Physical Exam.

Complete the Physical Exam by hitting Button A next to the Terminal, then hurry to the south side of Charleston Herald and hit Button B, and finally return and hit Button A a second time. You must complete this in under three minutes while avoiding nearby Scorched. The path is marked with arrows.

Once you complete the Physical Exam, initiate the Final Exam on the Terminal.

Next, head to Belching Betty.

Pick up and equip your gear, especially the Fire Breather Helmet. You can equip a better weapon than the Anti-Scorched Training Pistol if you have one.

Enter the mine.

Inside, locate the locked door and use the Terminal next to it to unlock it.

Follow the path; either fork in the road at the crossroads is acceptable.

Find and activate the Emergency Beacon.

Fight your way back out through the Scorched and find and talk to Bernie.

Return to the Charleston Fire Department.

Access the Terminal.

Register as a member of the Fire Breathers.

On the second floor, head to the room next to the Terminal.

Hit the button to play the Priority Message.
