Complete Half-Life: Opposing Force Part 26 walkthrough, detailing how to defeat the rocket emplacement operator and navigate the rail car sections.
Walkthrough
- 1Detonate a tripmine near the rocket emplacement operator to kill him.
- 2Move along the ledge to his area to find a health pack and his dropped gun.
- 3If the tripmine doesn't kill the marine, crouch-walk along the ledge until he fires rockets, then shoot his leg until he dies.
- 4Follow the ledge until you reach the area where a rail car was stopped by a barrier arm.
- 5Use the .357 Magnum and slowly crouch-walk along the left ledge to shoot a vortigaunt across the tracks.
- 6Sneak carefully around a pillar and shoot two more vortigaunts across the tracks.
- 7A nearby vortigaunt is to the right of the last two, but not your next target.
- 8Slowly crouch-strafe left, watching the hallway leading from the main vort area, until a vortigaunt comes after you. Kill it.
- 9Crouch-strafe left again until a second vortigaunt from the hall comes after you.
- 10You should now be able to see and shoot the final vortigaunt in a corner to the right.
- 11Jump across the track and find a first aid station to your left.
- 12Go down the hall and shoot one of the tripmines past the green crates blocking stairs with your pistol.
- 13Jump-crouch onto the single crate and walk across it.
- 14Two headcrabs are in a ceiling area just past the crates, but you likely don't need to worry about them. Toss a hand grenade up there if you want to be sure. (Quicksave first in case the grenade bounces back.)
- 15Crouch-walk up the stairs, bash the two crates to get a C4 satchel bomb.
- 16Get out the .357 Magnum and crouch-walk to the corner past those crates.
- 17Sneak-shoot the two marines ahead, but be ready to finish them quickly as they will charge.
- 18After they are down, check their room for an HEV station and a large switch to raise the barrier arm.
- 19Hop onto the railing and carefully crouch-drop to the floor below.
- 20Jump over two tracks and go left to find a new rail car. (If you return for your old one, a marine will have taken control of this one.)
- 21Ride this car until you encounter another lowered barrier arm. You can abandon the car here or continue.
- 22To keep the car, get off by moving onto the left ledge and move back until you can see three wooden crates stacked on the upper walkway.
- 23Use the pistol to shoot the bottom two crates, destroying the top one automatically.
- 24Use the .357 Magnum to blast the three marines that start running on the upper walkway. Shoot them when they are briefly standing still.
- 25Jump across the tracks before they split and move around the corner to the right side of the area.
- 26Quickly crouch as you run toward the base of the upper floor where the heavy gun emplacement is.
- 27Quicksave if you made it uninjured. Get out your hand grenades.
- 28Move back so the gun fires but doesn't hit you, then toss a grenade over the sandbag wall to land behind it, killing the marine at the gun.
- 29Jump across the tracks to climb a short ladder to the upper walkway.
- 30Look for a first aid station and dropped guns on the walkway.
- 31Go to the gun emplacement and use the wall switch next to it.
- 32Return to the rail car and ride until the next rail car elevator.
- 33Stop the car short of the elevator and check the side area for C4 satchel bombs in crates and one underneath the personnel elevator.
- 34Send the personnel elevator up, drop down to get the satchel, and climb out using the ladder. You can then recall the elevator.
- 35Get into the elevator and ride it up to find yourself next to a large stack of explosive crates.
- 36Get out your C4 satchels and toss one through the gap between crates. (Move up to the gap and jump right before tossing.)
- 37Ride the elevator back down, detonate the satchel, then ride the elevator back up.
- 38Pick up the satchel near the elevator and look for a dropped weapon next to two crates you can bash for supplies.
- 39Slowly crouch-walk along the rim of the rail car elevator shaft to reach a small red-lit room with two AR grenades.
- 40Look down and across the shaft to see marine legs to shoot (use the pistol to save .357 ammo).
- 41Crouch-walk back across the shaft rim, then find the long ladder near the elevator.
- 42Climb down to the bottom to claim the dropped weapon of the marine you leg-shot.
- 43Climb to the top of the ladder to find boxes you can bash for ammo.
- 44Climb down the ladder to the floor with the elevator, then strafe off the ladder to land on the floor.
- 45Take the elevator down, get on the rail car, and ride it up.
Tips
- The tripmine might not kill the marine operator; if not, lure him into firing rockets that go over your head, then shoot his leg.
- When dealing with vortigaunts, letting them see you and immediately shooting them in the eye is an instant kill and can save ammo compared to sneaking.
- Quicksave before tossing grenades, especially near the crates with headcrabs, in case the grenade bounces back.
- When engaging the two marines past the crates, be prepared for them to charge immediately after the first shot.
- To conserve ammo, use the pistol for shooting marine legs from a distance.
- When dealing with the heavy gun emplacement, position yourself so the gun fires but doesn't hit you before tossing the grenade.
- If you need to get a C4 satchel bomb from under the personnel elevator, send it up, drop down, grab it, and climb out using the ladder.
- When throwing C4 at the explosive crates, jump right before tossing the satchel through the gap.
