Guide to Mission 15: Return to Hiigara in Homeworld 2. Learn how to defend Hiigara from the Vaygr and destroy the Planet Killers using Sajuuk.

Mission 15 is where you and the Hiigarans finally return to your Homeworld, only to find it under siege by the Vaygr. It's a tough one, but with the Sajuuk now in your hands, you've got a fighting chance. Let's get Hiigara back! ## Overview So, you've got the Sajuuk, and now it's time to go home. But surprise! The Vaygr are there, and they're not happy to see you. Their assault is fierce, and your own defenses are stretched thin. Things get even crazier when these massive Surface Bombardment Platforms show up, threatening to use the same devastating weapons that wiped out Kharak to destroy Hiigara's atmosphere. These Planet Killers are incredibly tough, so tough that only the Sajuuk can even scratch their shields. Your main goal is to defend Hiigara and destroy these Planet Killers before they can finish the job. ## Strategy This mission starts off feeling manageable, but trust me, it ramps up quickly. When you drop out of hyperspace, you'll see a bunch of Vaygr Shipyards reinforcing the attack. Your own Hiigaran battlecruisers will be trying their best to hold the line. Since the _Pride of Hiigara_ was lost back in Balcora, your current Shipyard is now your only way to build capital ships – it’s basically your new Mothership. Make sure you rebuild any lost capital ships. If you have carriers, get them building platforms, ion cannon frigates, and interceptors. Those interceptors will be super important later. Heads up: You won't be able to build Movers anymore, as the _Pride of Hiigara_ was the only ship capable of that. Use your main fleet of capital ships, including the Dreadnaught, to keep the Vaygr busy. To make defending easier, send your attack groups near your allied battlecruisers. They can't hold out on their own for long, but with your help, you can take down enemies much faster. Meanwhile, send the Sajuuk over to the target marker on the left and attack the Vaygr Shipyard. This is mostly a distraction, because here come the Planet Killers. These colossal ships are immune to regular weapons fire. Only the Sajuuk can damage and destroy them. As they arrive, they'll start firing bombardment missiles at Hiigara. You'll see the planet's population, 180 million, and each missile can wipe out 80 million. If the population hits zero, you fail the mission. As soon as a Planet Killer appears, focus the Sajuuk on the closest one. Your main job is to keep the Vaygr occupied while you use Sajuuk to take down the Planet Killers. Build interceptors to shoot down the missiles they launch. Any other strike craft, like bombers or corvettes, can also help with this. The missiles have weak hulls, so they shouldn't take long to destroy. This mission is all about managing the Planet Killer threat. Once all three are destroyed, the mission ends, and you've completed the game! ## Trivia * Don't try to move Sajuuk using its regular drives. It's way too slow. Just use hyperspace jumps – they're cheap, and you'll have plenty of RUs (over 200,000) to spare for them. * Sajuuk's secondary weapons are incredibly powerful and can destroy most capital ships very quickly. Watch out for Vaygr flanking attacks; use those secondary weapons to deal with them. * Even though Sajuuk is heavily armored, the Vaygr can throw a massive number of ships at it, potentially destroying it. Keep Sajuuk protected and hyperspace out if it starts taking too much damage. * The Planet Killers were originally planned as part of a different alien race called the T-MAT, but this concept was never fully realized in the game due to technical limitations. * If you're fast enough, you can actually complete the mission without any missiles hitting Hiigara.
