This mode offers a fresh challenge, allowing you to carry over your hard-earned progress while facing tougher enemies, discovering new secrets, and unlocking exclusive rewards. Prepare to delve deeper into the twisted narrative of Karma, where your past choices resonate with even greater impact.

Before embarking on your NG+ journey, ensure you've completed the main story and achieved at least one of the primary endings. Your accumulated Karma, unlocked abilities, and most inventory items will transfer, but certain quest-specific items and key plot devices will reset to maintain narrative integrity.

Starting Your NG+ Run

Upon completing the main story, a new option, "New Game Plus," will appear on the main menu. Selecting this will prompt you to choose which save file to carry over. We highly recommend creating a manual save at the end of your initial playthrough to preserve your final state.

• Retained Progress:
  • All acquired abilities and upgrades (e.g., Shadow Step Mastery, Soul Rend II).
  • Karma score (positive or negative).
  • Inventory items, including consumables (e.g., Gloom Berries, Aether Vials), crafting materials (e.g., Obsidian Shards, Whispering Silk), and non-quest-specific equipment (e.g., Voidforged Blade, Cloak of Silent Whispers).
  • Character level and experience.
  • Unlocked lore entries and codex entries.
• Reset Progress:
  • Main story progression and all side quests.
  • Key items required for specific quests (e.g., Elder's Seal, Fragment of the Oracle).
  • Map exploration and fast travel points (these will need to be rediscovered).
  • NPC relationships and dialogue states.
  • Faction standing (e.g., Cult of the Veiled Eye, Order of the Crimson Dawn).

New Challenges and Rewards

Enhanced Enemy Difficulty

All enemies, from the lowly Gloom Stalkers in the Whispering Fen to the formidable Archon of Despair in the Citadel of Echoes, will have increased health, damage output, and often new attack patterns or resistances. Expect even common encounters to require more tactical thinking.

• Elite Variants: Keep an eye out for "Elite" versions of standard enemies, marked by a glowing aura. These possess unique abilities and drop rarer loot. For instance, an Elite Shadow Weaver might cast an area-of-effect silence spell.
• Boss Modifications: Major bosses will gain new phases, additional minions, or modified abilities. The Keeper of the Lost Souls, for example, might summon spectral hounds during its second phase in NG+.

Exclusive Loot and Crafting

NG+ introduces a new tier of equipment and crafting materials, essential for overcoming the increased difficulty.

• Legendary Schematics: Scattered throughout the world, often in previously inaccessible areas or as drops from Elite enemies, you'll find schematics for "Legendary" gear.
  • Location: The Legendary Voidforged Blade Schematic can be found in a hidden alcove within the Sunken Archives, accessible only after acquiring the Abyssal Key from the NG+ exclusive quest, "Echoes of the Deep."
  • Crafting: Requires rare NG+ materials like Starlight Essence (dropped by NG+ bosses) and Primordial Dust (found in challenging optional dungeons).
• Mythic Runes: A new tier of runes, offering powerful stat boosts and unique passive abilities. These are typically found in NG+ exclusive chests or as rewards for completing specific challenges.
  • Example: The Rune of Eternal Vigilance, found after defeating the Spectral Guardian in the Forgotten Crypts (NG+ only), grants a chance to negate incoming damage.

New Quests and Lore

The Dark World reveals more of its secrets in NG+. Several new side quests and lore fragments become available, shedding light on previously ambiguous plot points or introducing new characters.

• The Seeker's Path: A multi-part questline initiated by speaking with the enigmatic NPC, The Chronicler, who now appears in the Sanctuary of Whispers. This quest will guide you to uncover five Ancient Tablets of Prophecy, each revealing a deeper truth about the world's creation.
• Karma-Specific Encounters: Your accumulated Karma from your previous playthrough will influence certain encounters.
  • High Positive Karma: You might encounter The Ascended Spirit in the Verdant Glades, offering a unique blessing or a powerful healing item like the Divine Ambrosia.
  • High Negative Karma: Prepare for ambushes by The Vengeful Wraiths in the Crimson Wastes, who drop valuable, but cursed, artifacts.

Strategic Approaches for NG+

Early Game Preparation

Even with your carried-over gear, the early areas of NG+ can be surprisingly challenging. Prioritize upgrading your existing equipment and unlocking any remaining abilities you missed.

• Focus on Core Abilities: Ensure your primary damage-dealing and defensive abilities are fully upgraded. For example, if you rely on Soul Rend, make sure you have Soul Rend III unlocked.
• Resource Management: Consumables like Gloom Berries and Aether Vials will be crucial. Consider farming for crafting materials in areas you can still comfortably clear to stock up.
• Re-evaluate Builds: The increased enemy difficulty might necessitate a shift in your build. Experiment with different ability combinations and rune placements.

Mid to Late Game Tactics

As you progress, the new challenges will demand more refined strategies.

• Exploit Elemental Weaknesses: Enemies in NG+ often have more pronounced elemental weaknesses. Pay attention to enemy descriptions and use abilities or weapons that exploit these vulnerabilities. For instance, the new Obsidian Golems in the Ashfall Peaks are highly susceptible to Arcane damage.
• Crowd Control: Abilities that stun, slow, or incapacitate multiple enemies will be invaluable, especially against Elite groups. The Temporal Anchor ability, if upgraded, can provide crucial breathing room.
• Environmental Awareness: Utilize the environment to your advantage. Lure enemies into traps, use cover to avoid ranged attacks, or push them off ledges where possible.

Optional Challenges

For the truly dedicated, NG+ offers several optional, high-difficulty encounters and dungeons.

• The Gauntlet of Shadows: A new, multi-stage combat arena unlocked after completing "The Seeker's Path." Each stage presents a unique combination of Elite enemies and environmental hazards. Successful completion rewards you with the Crown of the Shadow King, a powerful headpiece.
• Forgotten Labyrinths: Hidden entrances to these procedurally generated dungeons can be found in various regions. They are teeming with unique, powerful enemies and offer the best chances for finding Mythic Runes and Legendary Schematics. The entrance to the Labyrinth of Whispers is located behind a destructible wall in the Sunken Archives, only visible with the Eye of Insight artifact (NG+ exclusive).
