Learn how to get and use Super Abilities in Kirby's Dream Land, including how they defeat large objects and lead to Sphere Doomer battles.

Super abilities are acquired by inhaling sparkly enemies that make a big production when they appear. If you defeat these enemies, they will leave a star behind, which you can acquire that way if you prefer. When you have a super ability, a rainbow bar will appear by Kirby, which decreases over time. When this bar runs out, your ability disappears. Unlike standard abilities, ejecting a super ability will cause the star to burst almost immediately, rather than bounce for a while.

The primary purpose of super abilities is to destroy large objects with sparkly stars on them. Most of these are obstacles, though there are a few enemies as well. When you see a super ability, you will know for sure that there is a very large object to destroy nearby in order to reveal a star gate. This star gate will warp you to some weird area where a purple wave chases you, and you'll have to fight some incarnation of a Sphere Doomer (a type of enemy) for 2 Energy Spheres.

Tips
  • Inhale sparkly enemies to gain super abilities.
  • Defeating sparkly enemies also drops a star that can be inhaled for the super ability.
  • Super abilities are essential for destroying large obstacles with sparkly stars.
  • Destroying these obstacles reveals a star gate leading to a chase sequence and a boss fight.
  • The rainbow bar indicates the remaining duration of your super ability.
  • Ejected super ability stars disappear almost immediately.
