Unlike other games in the series, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name does not use experience points. Early in the game, you gain access to the Daidoji "catalog" where you can purchase new abilities using money. Later, around a certain point in Chapter 2, you will gain access to the "Hornet" gadget. After this, most abilities will require both money and "Akame Points," which are earned by engaging with the Akame Network (a system of tasks and objectives).

Several abilities, particularly those in the Stats category, have multiple levels. You must purchase these levels in sequence. Upgrading Health and Attack also unlocks the next tier of abilities.

Stats

These are passive upgrades that enhance Kiryu's base capabilities, focusing on his survivability, damage output, and Heat Gauge management.

  • Boost Attack: Increases attack damage. Costs range from ¥15,000 for the first level up to ¥200,000 for the fourth level.

This category includes combat moves, enhancements to your standard moveset, new Heat Actions, and situational buffs.

  • Increase Equippable Gear: Grants additional gear slots. Requires the Hornet gadget. The first slot costs A 3000 and ¥100,000. The second slot costs A 4000 and ¥500,000. The fourth slot costs A 5000 and ¥3,000,000.
