Explore the key characters returning in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, including Kazuma Kiryu, Daigo Dojima, Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima, Haruka Sawamura, and Ichiban Kasuga.

This section re-introduces past characters, not new characters for this game. Also I don't intend to drop in surprise guest characters. Those you see here were all featured in trailers at some point.

Kazuma Kiryu - The first series protagonist. He's known on the streets as the "Dragon of Dojima", a title he earned entirely by accident as a result of the events of Yakuza 0. In Yakuza 1, he was an up-and-coming officer in the Tojo Clan, but threw it all away when he accepted the responsibility for the murder of his boss, Sohei Dojima. After ten years in prison and expulsion from yakuza life, he returned to discover the circumstances behind a conspiracy surrounding Haruka and ten billion missing yen. These events resulted in him being named the Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan. He immediately abdicated this life, but is routinely drawn back into the Tojo Clan's problems over the course of the remainder of the series. Without going into too much detail, the events of Yakuza 6 saw him fake his own death with the help of a clandestine government-adjacent organization. At 51 years of age, he now lives his days "without a name", largely in the custody of Daidoji.

Daigo Dojima - The Sixth and current Chairman of the Tojo Clan. Daigo is the son of Kiryu's former boss, Sohei Dojima. In Yakuza 2, Kiryu brought Daigo in from a life of aimless decadence so he could assume his rightful place in leadership, and in the years since, Daigo has done his best to maintain the Clan, despite frequently needing to call on Kiryu for help, advice, or just needing to be punched a bit.

Goro Majima - The wild one-eyed yakuza known as the "Mad Dog of Shimano", Majima is a rival and sometimes ally of Kiryu. Currently, he is the patriarch of the Majima Family and has a high rank within the Tojo Clan hierarchy. He may seem flamboyant and unhinged, but in reality Majima is a crafty leader. Despite his desire to fight Kiryu whenever he gets the chance, Majima has often found himself working to Kiryu's benefit in order to help solve the latest problem in the Tojo Clan.

Taiga Saejima - Introduced in Yakuza 4, his story actually begins quite a few years before Yakuza 1, in 1985. A member of the small Sasai Family in the Tojo Clan, Saejima attempts a major hit on the rival Ueno Seiwa clan in order to promote the status of his family. He then spends the next twenty-five years in prison, but escapes before his death sentence can be carried out to search for his old friend Goro Majima and his sister, Yasuko. Nowadays he is the patriarch of his own family within the Tojo Clan.

Haruka Sawamura - Currently 23 years old, Haruka is Kiryu's adopted daughter, and the biological daughter of his true love, Yumi Sawamura. Kiryu first found nine-year-old Haruka in a bar full of gunned-down people, hiding behind the counter clutching a pistol. Having a clue to the missing ten billion yen, Kiryu takes her in and eventually adopts her. While she has nothing to do with the yakuza directly and is not a fighter, she is no stranger to danger, routinely being swept up in the troubles of the series. Following Yakuza 6, she's currently living in Okinawa with the rest of her found family, including her son Haruto.

Ichiban Kasuga - Introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ichiban was once a lowly but loyal soldier in the Tojo Clan's Arakawa Family. At the turn of the millennium, he took responsibility for a crime he didn't commit and was sent to prison for what would end up being 18 years. Upon release, he found himself betrayed by those closest to him and had to restart from rock bottom. He gathered like-minded friends around him and together his party of heroes rose to the top to defeat a political conspiracy. The story of Gaiden takes place in parallel with Ichiban's story.
