Learn how to conquer the Coliseum in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Discover strategies for Hell Team Rumbles, fighter management, and rank progression.

The Coliseum in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a combat arena where Kiryu can participate in various fights, including story-mandated ones and optional side hustles. Beyond simple brawling, it involves building and managing the "Joryu Clan" for "Hell Team Rumbles" and progressing through ranks to unlock new fight types. All Coliseum activities can be managed via Tom at the Lobby counter or through the Pause Menu.

General Rules:

  • You can select any fighter from the Joryu Clan to control, though Joryu is generally the best choice.
  • You enter fights with your current health and Heat. Stocking up on cigarettes and using the smoking area can replenish Heat before a fight.
  • Both of Kiryu's Styles are available, and he wears his currently equipped Gear.
  • The Pause Menu is inaccessible during fights. Pausing offers only the option to back out.
  • Losing or quitting has no penalty for Joryu; he returns to Reception fully healed.
  • If another fighter loses, they become "exhausted" (reduced health). This can be cured by speaking to them in the Fighters' Lounge, buying gifts, or having them win.
  • Most fights have a 3-minute timer. Your performance determines your letter grade (S, A, B, C), which affects your post-fight bonus money.
  • Tournaments consist of three rounds, with 10% health recovery between rounds.

Tournament Ranks

Tournaments are one-on-one fights. Some opponents can be recruited for your team. Each rank has a "Fighter Pool" of potential opponents.

Bronze Rank

  • Tournament 1: Fight Hammerhead, who is aggressive and uses big hits. Dodge and counterstrike.
  • Tournament 2: Fight Zhang Wei, who has quick strikes but is generally not a major threat.
  • Timed Match: Face a low-level fighter from the Bronze Fighter Pool:
    • Chef Sugimoto: Uses a fast-attacking cleaver. Can be defeated quickly if his attacks are bypassed.
    • Masaru Watase-esque Man: Fights similarly to his story encounter, using a spiked bat that deals extra damage.
    • Tsurugi Sugiyama: A ninja in white clothing, using a kodachi and knife moves.

    • Hangman: A wild fighter with wide sweeps and throws; slow but sturdy.
