Master the Prologue of Lost Judgment with our comprehensive guide. Learn Tailing, Act Casual, combat tutorials, infiltration mechanics, and item locations.
We are reintroduced to the world of Judgment via a particularly disturbing cutscene, and then we join our Mystery Boys, already at work in a stakeout. Short story, you'll begin the game with a Tailing mission. You'll immediately be introduced to the new mechanic of "Act Casual", which allows you to avoid suspicion even if you're out in the open. It's actually a meter that you consume throughout the tailing, so don't overuse it. It might be better to focus on hiding behind corners and structures to obscure yourself.
Once you reach the endpoint, you'll switch to taking a photo of your mark and a new face he's talking to. You get the best results by satisfying all requirements, but you're by no means required to do so to continue. For the case of this picture, zoom in as far as you can, then adjust the focus until it's clear (you'll see a checkmark when it's good), then wait for the pair to smile and take the shot.
Continue the tail and you'll make your way east. As you reach the endpoint, a few punks nearby will recognize you and decide to take their miseries out on you. This is a battle tutorial where you will learn attacks, fighting stance, guarding, and evading. Take the time to get used to the moveset. As things stand at the moment, very little has changed from the previous game, but the Crane Style is a bit faster than normal.
With the bad guys taken out, head south and you'll spot your mark again. Yagami wants to grab a picture of the guy withdrawing money. Tail him to the Poppo and enter once he does. Walk around him to the right and get a shot of him at the ATM. Follow him back out and you'll automatically track him to a building.
Yagami will be denied entry, so he'll have to sneak inside. You'll use Investigation Mode to plot your way in. You can hold down L2/LT at any time if you want to get a hint of what to look for. For now, look at the open window on the left-side of the street-facing wall (the one without green tape on it). You'll need to secure a way in. Move around into the alley and look at the AC unit on the inside wall. Use the parkour controls as you're taught to climb up the wall. Basically, use the Left Stick to move around and hold Circle/B if you want to ascend or descend. Climb up the wall and up to the top, then slide around the walls to the main building. Climb up to the pipes, a little over to the right, then down to the air duct. Climb down to hang off the duct, then shimmy over to the window. On the way, you'll pick up several small items, including a couple of recovery energy drinks and materials, a Toughness Light, some Mysterious Seeds, a Silver Plate, a Small Screw, and a Tauriner.
Once inside, you'll come across a pair of bad guys to beat down. There's more tutorial here, this time in Tiger Style. Use the attacks, charge attacks, weapon attacks, grab attacks, and an EX Action to round it all out. Finish them off.
The next gameplay element to introduce is infiltration. You're here to sneak around and not get caught. Follow the prompts to find cover and spy on the guy across from you. Instead of going towards him, go through the door on the left. There'll be a guy sleeping inside. Avoid him and head for the far door, to find it locked. You'll have to get close to the sleeping guy and get the key near the Koro-nyan stuffed animal. There's also a Paper Plate on the floor nearby. Take the key and unlock the door, then head to the stairwell. Climb up the two flights of stairs, taking the Staminan X on the way, then try the door at the top. You'll have to pick it open using your lockpicks, so follow the prompts and look for the shearlines on the tumblers to get the lock open.
Once inside, head for the marker and spy on the guard. You'll have to use a coin toss for this, so point your view at the icon and press R2/RT to toss a coin. Wait for the guy to move to that spot, then sneak up behind him and press Triangle/Y to perform a takedown. Before you head inside, go to the far end of the hallway to find a Dirty Cloth. Head inside the door the man was guarding, and you'll learn your mark's main vice.
Now outside the building (don't worry how we got out, it's not important) you'll confront Kosuke. No tutorials here, just beat him down however you feel is best. Once he's down, more guys will show up. You'll be taught how to bust out your EX Boost (R2/RT) to pile on some speedy strikes. Personally, I'm very much a fan of the "four Heavy Attacks" combo.
Once everyone's down, Kosuke's still not ready to give up. He legs it and you'll have to give chase. Basically the chase game is to avoid obstacles and press the Left Stick or button as the prompts come up. Note the Split Path that comes late. Make sure you tap to the left to go that way. Once you catch him, you'll learn about the group that Kosuke is working for. The suggestion will be made to bring your client back to Genda Law Offices.
Head inside the Genda Law Office to get introduced to Genda-sensei. Speak to him and he'll fill Yagami in on the case the law office is currently working on. Once all that info is taken in, head back outside. Your objective is to speak to Kaito to move on with the story, but I just want to point out that this is your first opportunity in the game to explore Kamurocho completely, so take advantage of it if you want. There are no encounters on the street at the moment, so all there really is to do is get involved with any shopping or local minigames that you want to use your currently meager funds on. You can play any arcade games at Club SEGA, play Mahjong, play Shogi, play at the Batting Center, or play on the Master System back at Yagami's office.
Speak to Kaito and confirm that you're ready to head to the shady bar. Once you arrive, you'll be in a punch-up with about eight guys. As is said, here's a great place to cut loose. Have fun bashing down these relatively u
