Navigate Wario Stadium and Sherbet Land with expert strategies for Mario Kart 64. Learn shortcuts, item box locations, and how to beat the Star Cup.

The Star Cup in Mario Kart 64 features unique and longer courses that are more challenging than the Mushroom or Flower Cups. This guide covers Wario Stadium and Sherbet Land.

Wario Stadium

Overview: At 1591 meters, Wario Stadium is the second-longest course. It's a dirt track with numerous ramps and bumps, featuring a massive audience and Wario's face lining the walls.

Walkthrough: Drive over the initial bumps to reach a large ramp. Take it to fall down to item boxes. Continue on the curving path, power-sliding into turns and U-turns for potential item boxes and mini-turbo boosts. Drive over two more ramps into a bumpy area, collecting item boxes. Stick to the right and make a U-turn into the stadium's next region. After three bumps, make another power-sliding U-turn into smaller bumps. Drive through these bumps, likely bouncing, to reach a depression with item boxes. Continue forward, take a wide turn (power-sliding is optional here), and then power-slide for the rest of the turn to reach a large ramp. Drive up this ramp to jump across a gap. Land on lower ground, make a sharp turn for item boxes, then a U-turn, and follow the wall to the finish line.

Alternate Route: Using a Mushroom or Super Star on ramps can allow you to fly over walls, saving significant time. This is particularly effective in Time Trials with a Triple Mushroom. Drive towards the left wall, power-slide to face left, and use Mushrooms with precise timing to fly over the wall, landing about halfway through the course. It's possible, though very difficult, to jump the wall again to reach the finish line for a faster time.

Strategic Trap Locations: Set traps after landing from ramps, especially the large one that sends you over the gap. Traps placed after bumps can also be effective as they may be hidden from view. If you have a Thunder Bolt, small characters may be unable to cross the huge gap using the ramp.

Sherbet Land

Overview: Sherbet Land is 756 meters long and features an icy environment with penguins called Tuxies. Bumping into Tuxies causes you to spin out or lose speed, and the ice reduces tire traction. The icy water and cracks in the ice are also hazards.

Walkthrough: Drive forward and turn right, avoiding a baby Tuxie that may dive at you. Round the next corner, avoiding a Tuxie kid. Drive forward to a line of item boxes, taking one on the right to help with the next turn. Pass through the initial item boxes in a wide, open space and then pass two Tuxies to enter a cave. In the large cavernous room with adult Tuxies circling pillars, drive up to a red arrow, power-slide left, drive to the next arrow, and then go left to take the tunnel up. Near the end, drive forward, veering left for an item box if desired (though this can put you in a bad position). Hang to the right to power-slide around the next turn. Stay to the right to avoid a crack in the ice and reach the finish line, dodging Tuxie children.

Alternate Route: It's not much of a defined alternate route in the source text.
