Walkthrough

    In the rock-ridden area, head to the southeast. Break rocks along the way.

    In the southeast corner, you'll find a stake. Pound it to activate a nearby fountain.

    Use the fountain to fill Mario with water.

    Use the water to put out the flame surrounding a rock to the west.

    Break the revealed rock with the Hammer.

    Continue onward. Hit the Bros. Block back and forth.

    From here, you have two options: break rocks to enter the mine cart cave leading to the mountain base, or continue eastward. For now, go east.

    In the waterfall area, hit the blocks to get 2 Mushrooms and 2 Syrups.

    Return to the previous area and pound the rocks to enter the mine.

    Inside the mine, talk to the old man in the rocking chair. He will explain the mine cart mini-game.

    In the mini-game, Luigi is on the background track, and you control Mario on the foreground track with a flashlight. Use the flashlight to see Luigi, obstacles, and when to jump for diamonds.

    Collect 10 diamonds to complete the course the first time.
