Defeat Mistral in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Ranked Battle #10. Learn her attacks and strategies to achieve an S rank.
Walkthrough
- 1Make your way upstairs to initiate the boss fight with Mistral. This fight is Ranked Battle #10.
- 2Be aware that dwarf gekkos (small robotic enemies) will constantly appear. Killing all of them will cause more to respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death), so try to keep at least one alive to manage their numbers. This is a good opportunity to work towards the 'Looking Out for the Little Guys' trophy/achievement by killing dwarf gekkos en masse.
- 3Mistral has several attacks:
- 4Pole Spike: Mistral extends her pole to stab you. This can be parried or blocked.
- 5Spinning Wheel: Mistral performs fast saltos, becoming a sharp wheel. Block this attack multiple times from different directions.
- 6Simple Slash: Mistral uses basic slashes, including a horizontal round swing and a vertical slam slash.
- 7Brutal Whip: This attack flashes yellow and cannot be parried or blocked. Immediately dodge away. If hit, rapidly wiggle the left analog stick to mitigate damage.
- 8Fireball Gekkos: Mistral jumps on a pipe and throws fireball gekkos. Avoid these by running, utilizing Ninja Run (a rapid movement technique).
- 9Periodically, Blade Mode (a slow-motion state allowing precise cuts) will become available to damage Mistral's pole and arms.
- 10When Mistral's health is at 75% or lower, she will perform an attack that triggers a Quick Time Event (QTE). Enter Blade Mode and cut her pole to advance to the second phase.
- 11Phase 2 takes place on a pipe. Mistral gains two new attacks:
- 12Whip Slash: Similar to her regular slashes, this can be parried.
- 13Whiplash From Above: Mistral spins her pole, then leaps to strike down. Try to block this.
- 14When Mistral's health is at 50% or less, a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) initiates the third and final phase on the ground. She loses 'Whiplash From Above' and 'Fireball Gekko' attacks but gains a new move. Five dwarf gekkos will also appear.
- 15Underground Whip: This long-range attack is aimed in a straight line and is easy to anticipate.
- 16When Mistral has 10% health remaining, a QTE will trigger. Press Y+B (Xbox 360) or Triangle+Square (PS3), followed by Blade Mode, to end the battle and the chapter.
