Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Part 40 walkthrough covers assassination attempt, VR Mission 19, and Ranked Battle 1. Learn boss fight tips.
Walkthrough
- 1In Phase 2 of the boss fight, Sam will frequently use the Dashing Grab, charging at you to grab your head and slam you. This move is telegraphed and can be parried.
- 2Sam also uses a Kick Attack when you are close and he is not staggered. This is a quick, powerful kick that can be parried if you are fast enough. It is designed to create distance.
- 3After Phase 2, a QTE (Quick Time Event) will occur (X on Xbox 360, Square on PS3), leading into Phase 3.
- 4In Phase 3, Sam primarily uses moves from Phase 1, along with two new attacks.
- 5Sam uses the Triple Dash most often in Phase 3, charging at you multiple times. Each dash is easy to parry.
- 6Sam will occasionally use Boulder Throw, launching boulders at you. Similar to Monsoon's debris attacks, time will slow, allowing you to enter Blade Mode and cut through the boulders.
- 7When Sam reaches 0.1% health, he performs a strike that triggers a QTE (Y+B on Xbox 360, Triangle+Circle on PS3). Enter Blade Mode to end the fight by striking his sword out of his hand.
- 8To find the intel for VR Mission #19, climb the rocks directly behind Raiden at the start of the level.
- 9Head down the slope and look left for a drop to find an [RP GRENADE].
- 10In the upper left corner of the field, search the large rock for an [ELECTROLYTE PACK].
- 11A [CARDBOARD BOX] is located in the corner nearby.
- 12At the far end of the road, collect a [REPAIR NANOPASTE] from a box.
- 13A Humanoid Gekko is on the right side of the main entrance. If you have been following the guide, this is likely the last one, and defeating it should grant the 'Tearing Away the Disguise' achievement or trophy.
- 14For Ranked Battle #1, there are 3 initial Cyborg enemies and 2 more in the actual battle.
- 15To sneak past the initial 3 cyborgs, use 3D Photo Frames to distract them.
- 16One of the initial cyborgs has a [LEFT HAND ID]. It is advisable to fight them openly to collect this before attempting a stealth approach.
- 17A box with [500 BP] is also present.
- 18Slice the main gate open to proceed.
Tips
