Complete guide for Mission 8: "It Ain't No Picnic" in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Learn how to secure deployment plans, eliminate the colonel, and extract tanks.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head to Sakhra Ee Village using the eastern LZ to approach from the hill. Be mindful of spotlights at night.
  2. 2
Locate the prisoner inside the first building straight ahead and rescue them once it's safe.
  3. 3
Find the deployment papers in the building marked by the yellow objective marker (requires interrogating an enemy if not already known).
  4. 4
Upon retrieving the plans, the tanks will deploy, and the colonel will appear, escorted by them.
  5. 5
If you planted C4 on the southeast road, detonate the first batch as the first tank passes over it.
  6. 6
The colonel's truck will speed towards Smasei Fort, while the second tank may search before following.
  7. 7
Detonate the second batch of C4 as the second tank reaches it.
  8. 8
If tanks survive, use more C4 or sneak up to destroy them.
  9. 9
Proceed to Smasei Fort to locate and eliminate or extract the colonel.
  10. 10
Use the same path to the ledge overlooking the fort to mark enemies.
  11. 11
Lure the colonel close with empty magazines, shoot with a tranq dart, and extract him.
  12. 12
Leave the hot zone to complete the mission.
Tips
  • To extract the prisoner in Sakhra Ee Village, use D-Dog or interrogate an enemy to pinpoint their location.
  • Extracting tanks is possible with the Cargo 2 Fulton upgrade. This is also a good opportunity to extract the colonel and tanks before they reach Smasei Fort.
  • If you don't mind killing the colonel, you can plant additional C4 on the road between the two sets of explosives.
  • Intel Team's markings will show red circles indicating enemy locations, helping you track them.
