Learn about Street X, URL, Downhill Drift, Outrun, SUV, and Magazine races in Need for Speed Heat. Includes drag race tips.

Street X

Street X races are similar to Circuit races but on a much smaller track. They feature 3 or 4 laps with 3 opponents and no traffic or nitro. Shortcuts are not present. To win, you need a great ability to curve, as it is very difficult to win without it.

URL

URL races are a more professional version of Circuit races. They have 3, 4, or 5 laps with 5 opponents and no traffic. Nitro is available, but shortcuts are not. The general strategy is the same as for Circuit races.

Downhill Drift

Downhill Drift races combine elements of Sprint and Drift races. The objective is to go from point A to point B while earning the most drifting points. These races have traffic, no nitro, and no shortcuts. There are 3 opponents, and they are not visible. The general strategy is similar to Drift races, focusing on avoiding traffic. The parts with sand act as score multipliers.

Outrun

In Outrun races, the goal is to take the lead and create distance from your opponent. These races have traffic and nitro, but no shortcuts. There is 1 opponent, who is visible. Winning multiple Outrun races can reward you with unique parts. Strategies include using nitro on a highway, but be careful not to reach top speed. Alternatively, when in first place and near the opponent, you can initiate a corner turn; if executed correctly, the opponent may not react, allowing you to drive calmly. Another technique involves performing a 180° turn and accelerating.

SUV

SUV races require you to drive a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The race type (traffic, nitro, shortcuts, laps) depends on the specific race. Refer to the World Map to find out how to enter these races with a normal car. The general strategy is the same as the underlying race type.

Magazine Races

Magazine Races are similar to Sprint Races, where you go from point A to point B. The key difference is that you race against the clock, and you choose your own route. These races have traffic and nitro. Shortcuts are not really applicable as you select the route. The general strategy is the same as for other races.

Drag Races

Drag Races have specific mechanics to consider:

  • Blown Engine: Taking too long to shift gears will cause your engine to overheat. Excessive heat will lead to disqualification.
  • Totaled: Crashing into a wall or traffic will result in disqualification.
  • Shifts: Pay attention to the circle that appears on your screen for shifting gears.
    • Short Shift: Occurs when you don't wait long enough to shift, indicated by the circle not appearing or clinking. This results in a loss of speed.
    • Good Shift: The circle is blue and does not clink. This is the second-best option, maintaining speed without engine heating.
    • Perfect Shift: The circle turns green. This is the best shift, providing a speed boost and preventing engine heat. According to [email protected], perfect shifts occur at 9000 rpm for all cars, regardless of upgrades. Alan UnixBomber noted achieving a perfect shift on his Supra with level 2 upgrades.
