Explore Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance with our General Tips and Advice guide. Learn about exploration, demon building, and strategy for success.

Exploration Tips:

  • Check all search points and vending machines; every resource is valuable.
  • Save petrified demons, Gospels, and Grimoires for the end game.
  • Find all Miman in each region during a single playthrough, as they reset in subsequent ones.
  • Complete all possible quests, returning to difficult ones later. Some quest chains unlock new fusions and the hidden 4th ending.
  • Talk to every NPC, as some may offer items or talismans.
  • Initiate combat by attacking demons before they notice you to gain the first turn.
  • After a fight or escape, use the brief window where other demons are stationary to attack and gain initiative.
  • Collect talismans to unlock new Magatsuhi skills.
  • Engage challenging foes when you reach an appropriate level.
  • Avoid learning Mastery Miracles early on; focus on more useful miracles. Reserve Mastery for super bosses or end-game content after unlocking other Miracles.

Building the Nahobino:

This section is based on personal opinion and experience.

Early Game (Up to Level 20):

  • Focus on a magic build, allocating all skill points to Magic.
  • Equip elemental single-attack spells of various elements, prioritizing the strongest available via essences.
  • Delegate healing, buffing, and debuffing to other demons.

This magic build is generally reliable throughout the entire game.

Super Bosses Build:

  • If aiming for super bosses, switch to a strength build, investing stat points solely into Strength until it reaches 140-150.
  • Continue using and adding elemental skills, as a pure strength build may lack necessary skills early on.
  • Elemental Draco Strike skills can be used but have a limited lifespan.

Late Game Builds:

  • Magic Build: Consists of severe single-attack elemental spells for every element, plus utility skills like Great Mana Spring.
  • Strength Build: Significantly more powerful and effective against most enemies. Requires specific essences and skills:
    • Murakumo (from Aogami Type 0 essence)
    • High Almighty Pleroma and Almighty Pleroma (mid to late-game demon essences)
    • Critical Zealot and Critical Aura
    • Great Mana Spring or Great Life Spring
    • Enduring Soul
    • Abyssal Mask

Affinity and Resistances:

  • Affinity choices depend on the situation and the attacks of current enemies or bosses.
  • For late game and super bosses, consider using Sandalphon's essence to equip Repel Force instead of Great Life Spring.
  • Alternatively, use Vishnu and equip Repel/Drain Fire.
  • The goal for super bosses is to have Null Phys and no weaknesses, with as many resistances as possible.
