Progress through Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance's Interlude, facing new threats and unlocking DLC missions like the Fiend Battle: Matador.
Walkthrough
- 1From Tokyo, you can use the terminal to travel between Tokyo and the Netherworld.
- 2Pick up your navigator from the save point near the Diet Building.
- 3Proceed to the objective marker in Tokyo.
- 4After cutscenes and exposition, speak to everyone present.
- 5After more cutscenes, you will be at school. You can leave and walk around Tokyo, noting your character marker's rotation.
- 6When ready, go to the school. Speak to the people around, then enter and continue speaking to people as you move further in. A scene will play.
- 7On the way to the stairs, another scene with Dazai will occur.
- 8Make your way to your classroom for more scenes.
- 9Leave the classroom for a quick scene.
- 10Go downstairs for another scene. You will be presented with choices, but they do not affect the outcome.
- 11Make your way to the exit for more scenes.
- 12Leave the school and reach the Dorms for more scenes. The choices here do not matter.
- 13After a few more scenes, go to Jozoji, located in the northern part of the map.
- 14Before going to Jozoji, stop at the Jouin University Medical Research Lab and save at the terminal.
- 15Upon arriving at the lab, several DLC missions will unlock if you have them.
- 16Prepare for two consecutive fights. The first is against 2 Anzu and 2 Lamia. Lamia are weak to ice, and Anzu are weak to force.
- 17The second fight is against the boss, Lamhu. Lamhu mainly uses Mudo and is weak to force. He has very little HP and only gets one turn.
- 18After the fight, return to the lab to heal up, then proceed to the school.
- 19Save your game and enter the school building.
- 20A scene will play where your choice will affect your alignment. Saving Sahori grants Law points, while killing Lahmu grants Chaos points, though the amount is significantly smaller than previous opportunities.
- 21Continue through the school; the path is linear. You will fight enemies up to twice. Rakshasa are weak to ice, and Andras are weak to electric and light.
- 22Continue until you climb stairs, triggering a scene.
- 23Proceed on the path. Oni are weak to light and electric, and Tsuchigumo are weak to ice.
- 24Continue to the stairs. After a scene with Jack Frost, you will fight Incubus and a new enemy weak to light.
- 25Jack Frost will fully heal your party and can be spoken to anytime for healing.
- 26If you go straight past Jack Frost, you will find a Rakshasa in a corner.
- 27Go in the direction Jack Frost came from, down some stairs, and defeat the Oni attacking a student.
- 28You will find Dazai on the 3rd floor. Be cautious as you will be ambushed by 2 Shiki Ouji and another enemy. Shiki Ouji are weak against fire and force.
- 29On the 4th floor, you will find Andras in a corner on the west side. Approaching him initiates three consecutive fights. The Incubus here will ask for a Life Stone; give it to him, and he will attack.
- 30Back on the 3rd floor, take the southern path to some stairs leading to another part of the 4th floor. These demons will also ask for a Life Stone but will not attack if given one.
- 31Go to the 3rd floor, all the way west, and go up the stairs for a scene.
- 32Reach the classroom. After the scenes, the second main area will open.
DLC Quests
Before tackling the new area, focus on the unlocked DLC missions.
Fiend Battle: Matador
- Preparation: Bring a Jaki (Rakshasa) as the second party member, equipped with the Jaki Talisman and max Magatsuhi. Bring 3 Force Dampeners. Have one demon with Zionga (like Ame no Uzume), one debuffer, and a final demon with Zio that can also heal with Media. Have backup demons ready to replace those who run out of MP or die, as MP depletion is inevitable. Your level should be 23 or higher.
- Strategy: Matador is weak to wind. On the first turn, he uses Red Capote to maximize evasion and hit rate, then attacks. Use Force Dampener on your turn, as attacks will likely miss. Use Jaki Magatsuhi skill to minimize all enemy stats. Attack his weakness for the remainder of the turn. Swap Rakshasa with a debuffer.
- Unpredictability: From the second turn onwards, Matador's actions are unpredictable, alternating between normal attacks and Mazan. If he charges after an attack, he will use a powerful physical attack next turn. Keep hitting his weakness and maintain his debuffed status. Swap out allies who die or run out of MP immediately. Bring a backup debuffer. Use Force Dampeners carefully, as timing is crucial.
- Mid-Fight: Around 50% HP, he uses a powerful physical attack that can kill party members. He then reverts to normal and force attacks. He may use Red Capote again; if his stats are kept low, he will only return to normal. He may also use Charge to double physical damage, followed by the same powerful physical attack, or use Marakukaja.
- Endgame: At the end of his rope, he may use Red Capote again. The fight becomes unpredictable and potentially luck-based. Focus on attacking while ensuring survival, replacing fallen members, and keeping him debuffed.
